ok just asking if anyone who is good with kernels would have a go at adding the USB OTG drivers & stuff

to enable usb host mode... this would allow us to get tv out (with further mods) & plug just about any usb powered device into are phone

this guy seems to have done it for the blade http://android.modac...-usb-host-mode/

just a caution:

Sven Killig's drivers were for 2.6.29 kernel - quite old (for eclair/froyo), and thus patches required (which are hard to find), btw the linky to his site detailing USB OTG is quite old also. As for 2.6.35. series kernel, think that's already there, just need to be activated and recompiled that is all.

Having had killed my blade as a result from the USB OTG, under the thread 'Experimental Kernel', from page 13 in that thread onwards, how the usb otg experiment killed it... nonetheless, be very careful especially with adaptors from china (I still believe it is that cheap-as-chips adapters is what did it Ground/5v reversed).

So make sure you get a good adaptor or have some kind of protection in place so that it does not overload and kill the Skate :)

Being clueless with electronics, I guess a man-in-the-middle type of custom pcb with a chip that will take the overload and blow out instead of the handset will protect it. :)

If i try to play a movie on my skate i have to resize it in handbrake to a 480x800 and if the file is to big the phone starts to lag.

So playing a 480x800 file on a HD TV would look crap doesnt it? Or am i missing something? Last time i tried it wouldnt even play .avi files.

BTW: its really easy to make such a cable you only have to solder 4 cables. If you dont want to order it.
