Try these drivers, http://dl.dropbox.co...river_multi.rar
leave other drivers installed.
This should give you a new device in device manager = android. helped me to install superboot & recovery on winxp.

Ace, it worked. I now in the clockwork recovery UI. I just need to load my SD card with a ROM. What is the best ROM to use?

Did you try to boot your phone without anything but the battery (no sd-card, no sim-card, no usb, no whatever...), to see if it's really the phone that's faulty?
If you are sure you did not root or do anything "illegal" with your phone and it still doesn't boot, I think the problem will not be resolved by messing around with other ROMs - you should bring it back to get a replacement.

Now for a rom,
I would go with the bluemonte 1.8D,
or cm7 2.0
Did you manage to run superboot too ?
