Gets very hot

My GT540 is running Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread CyanogenMod 7.1 and now every so often it gets very hot around the battery and only lasts about 3hrs . It seems that something is draining the battery damn fast but I have no idea what it could be ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Sorted this out, it was the screen saver ,Aquarium fish tank downloaded from market. Seems to flatten battery if you leave it running without pressing back up key first

iam having the same problem .........i checked out not battery gets heated ic pm7540 gets heated. it is power managment ic.
