Just rooted my SGS2 without using odin, not seen it mentioned on here so thought I would let people know.

have a look HERE I'm no expert but it was easy, just follow the instructions and away you go

Updated and flashed this morning via kies to new F/W

Will Samsung kies still upgrade my firmware if I root using this method?

not sure but I've just downgraded to KG3 to test and see if it says upgrade available, I'll report back when done

can confirm, I've just rooted and done a titanium restore to confirm root, connected to Pc and started kies and it pops up with update available, I think you will lose root though so will need to run again
