yeah just wait for sim, it has been posted and your £5 will appear automatically inside 24hrs after you activate. remember to order your Pak code from current provider if you want to transfer your number to giffgaff , should be valid for 30 days after you receive it so order now as MC is unlocked.

You should make it clear that to activate you need to add £10 (Or has it changed ?)

With the latest tesco mobile changes to the data pricing getting those for £3 is the best current option (even though you need to wait 30 days to change tarriff).

£10 activation which goes on your phone is the first thing you are told when you click the link. Sorry I don't understand the second sentence at all.

People seem to like Giff Gaff because they think its cheap.

Just trying to make the point that at least for some use cases its not really that cheap.

(Tesco has same network and sims are £3 for £10 credit on ebay right now (i.e probably 2 months data if less than 500MB)

3 has a better network and those sims are fairly cheap as well. (Month with £15 setup).

And no messing around with registrations.

I suppose its not so easy if you care about keeping the same number (I use a dumb phone for calls).

People seem to love Giff Gaff and I dunno why really. (Unless the only reason people like it is because they make money due to the affiliate stuff but thats no good for the average user who cannot be bothered with all that stuff).

I've just gone back to Three because GiffGaff's unlimited data isn't really unlimited. Plus, they don't like you tethering with data that you have paid for. Three might be a bit more expensive, but the unlimited data truly is unlimited, and you can tether as much as you want. Three have basically done away with their fair usage policy when it comes to data.

I know that tethering was an issue but I did not know there was any problems with their unlimited data although not been on the site for a while what do you mean it's not unlimited have they changed their policy.

Well, the thing is, even though they say it's unlimited internet, it's not really. They don't like customers going beyond 20GB of usage every month, which is a problem for me, cause I stream a lot and use Google Music every day. They didn't even give me any warning about cutting me off. Instead, they said they're blocking my use of their MMS and GPRS services, only for me to find the next day that my data was blocked, and I only just topped up on the 4th November.

On a lighter note, I got a contract with Three today. £18 a month 24 month contract, for 300 minutes, 5000 texts and AYCE data, and £30 automatic cashback. I got an 8GB Sony Xperia Play with the official Xperia Play dock, which comes with 3 free Gameloft games, and case for the Xperia Play.

I have no idea why some people need more than 1GB a month, I have WIFI at home and never use my data connection away from home, even my university has a WIFI that I connect to so that's a good thing, I guess it comes in handy if you text alot like I do and make random calls here and there :)

make sure you install giffgaffAPN from the market and once you put your sim in you can use it to install giffgaff apn settings automatically.
