i have been waiting for the unlock for the skate witch got here a few days ago but i also heard the san fran 2 will be out before xmas. im still relatively new to android so by looking at the specs of the two handsets i am unable to make a decision. on one hand the skate with a growing community and on the other the chance that the current blade comunity will go for the san fran 2. and getting both is just greedy :). what do you all think?

Is this the new phone your talking about? Its not a GSM device though, does that mean it won't work in Europe?

So do you want a comparsion between the OMC and OSF or OMC and OSF 2?

was just hoping for some feedback on the skate (positive and negative). in order to make my mind up wether i should wait and see what the san fran 2 is all about or if i should get the skate now it is unlocked.

Well I feel it is a brilliant phone. The processor may only be a 800 MHz arm6 but you can really feel the difference beyween the bllade and the skate. There are places where the blade lags, where the Skate does really well. The screen is really good - is even better than that of an iPhone in my opinion. The colours are really vibrant and natural.

The community around the Skate is already really good and will now grow exponentially beacuse of the unclock. All in all it is an amazing phone for the price.

The OSF 2 is identical to the Skate in every way apart from the screen. this is miles worse than that of the Skate.

Not sure - it's difficult to tell. But I can say the Skate communtiy will grow as I said above.

I feel sorry for anyone who buys a OSF2 purely because the Skate is superior and the OSF2 seems like a marketing strategy for Orange against the OSF owners more than anything.

I'm pretty sure the unlock will be exactly the same as a Skate.

who knows... that's wot we thought from the blade to the OMC

in my opinion i dont think it will sell... unless its extremely cheaper than the OMC..

zte are just getting worse in my opinion, they need to move on from Armv6, its far to old now...

the OSF 2 upgrade from the original OSF is even littler than that of the OMC...

ZTE are starting to rip people of now i think

Well the thing between the OMC and the OSF 2. ZTE and Orange must have been happy that they managed to make a sustainable unlock. So they can put it in future phones as well. But only a few days before OSF 2 is released, the OMC is unlocked? Can't really do much with the manucatured stock.

I agree with the second part. The OMC is definitely my last ARM6 phone. The only reason I bought it was because of it's insane price for a 4.3" screen.

same here

EDIT: yeah, i agree, never thought.. would be way to late to change the unlock now so that should stay the same smile.gif

is the cpu not linked to the low price tho? cant expect to much for a budget smartphone. as long as comunities like this are around to cook new roms and keep it fresh i'm not to fussed about it. i wouldnt even own a blade if it wasnt for this forum :) (and the naggy friend who got me hooked lol)
