I'm really hoping someone can post a single zip file here that we can flash onto a stock Google ROM (just rooted) that will 'just work'!

DO NOT USE THIS ZIP. GO HERE INSTEAD!




Here's a zip file. It probably won't "just work" and you may need to perform some other actions:

• BACK UP /data/system/packages.xml SOMEWHERE SAFE!
• Open /data/system/packages.xml for editing SOMEHOW. (I would suggest adb pull/adb push for editing)
• Find the shared-user section that refers to "android.uid.nfc"
• DELETE all of that section.
• Restart.

Do this only if you know and understand the risks involved. Note that Google Wallet's ToS specifically precludes users from installing it on a device that's not running stock firmware.

I'm a little baffled.  Why would they put out that sort of requirement?  Doesn't Google want people to use GW?  You can only use it on the NS 4G version, not a whole lot of options.

I would guess that Google are covering themselves from blame if someone releases a dodgy version if Wallet just to steal CC details from people.

So I initially had GW working.  I did a wipe and all, re-installed everything and now I can't get GW to work.  I'm getting the following error:  

Secure element not responding
The Secure Element has stopped responding.  Please contact Google Wallet support.  

I've done countless wipes and different ROMs.  All end the same way.  I figure it has something to do with my storage, maybe?
Can anyone help me?

Troubleshooting
Secure Element not responding!
If you have a Nandroid backup of a version of Wallet that worked, try restoring to that. Otherwise, you're screwed unless you get a new device. The Secure Element in your phone has now locked you out.

Since we now know that nfc on this device is intrinsically tied to the "special" battery, does anyone know if the "Secure Element" is replaceable with just the battery pack?

First post has a link to a .zip file, flash that on top of your ROM via recovery and it works perfect.

Surely there's a way to get a US pre-paid card to add to your Google Wallet account?  This is the only thing in my way now...  (although it would be nice to not have to use Market Enabler)

ok, about to get my nexus replaced due to a faulty screen.  Is there a way to install google wallet and ensure that it works and not get the secure element error that I have on my current phone.

Mind you, I had this working on a different ROM.  I tried it last night on MCR Ir8 and it didn't work, it failed to make the payment and then said something about reader detected.
