Thanks PsYcHoKiLLa, just tried power on with menu & vol+ keys, unfortunately still nothing happends except the LED indicator comes on with continuous a red light.

Also tried this sequence with the USB cable connected to my PC, still nothing except the LED indicator flashes on & off with green light.

Does the working recovery given in Fuzzra's link (http://android.modac...flash-recovery/) allow reversal of the the unlock procedure assuming the unlock files were incorrect (see my original post)?
Or is there really only one chance at loading up the unlock files?

It's definitely menu and vol+ for that. It happens very early in the process of powering up, so hold them both down *before* you go to press the power button. It's also probably best to do it with no cables connected - sometimes things get a bit glitchy with a cable in.

Hi have just tried that sequence of keys to power up & the phone.  The screen is still blank & the backlight (camera flash??) flashes intermittently!

One doubt here..
If I flashed the stock rom....then should i need to flash the SF2 kernel or it is not needed as I flashed the stock rom for SF2 ?

I have tried methods 1& 2 with no luck.

I am not clear about Method-3 (Flashing a TPT).
Presumably I have to boot up the phone to be able to copy over the TPT zip file from my PC?
Or can this be done with an SD card reader connected to my PC?
Is the correct file for my SF2 the European Gen2 TPT file?

Method-4 I can't use because the phone will not go into FTM mode.

Method-5 seems a possibility because the phone successfully connects to my PC in 'download mode' & I can see its COM port from my PC using the devise manager, but has anybody on here had first hand experience with this method because the post states this a high risk method & I might permanently 'brick' my phone if it goes wrong!!! This makes me very nervous about proceeding although in theory it seems my only option.

I'd be grateful for any comments on the above.

You could copy over the files to the sdcard using an adaptor to insert it into your pc, that's fine.
Not sure about "European Gen2", Are you sure that's a San Francisco II file and not for the original Blade?

Thank you for your reply PsYcHoKiLLa I think I'll try method 5 later  when I have a bit more time, just a couple of quick questions

I've just tried to use QPST suite to do back up of qcn file by connecting  the phone to my PC in download mode, this is this only way I can connect to my PC at this time, but got this error message 'Port does not contain a phone in diagnostics mode' is there another way to back up phone settings?

I have looked at this list of clockworkmod zip files:- http://android.podtw...hp?device=blade , frankly I have no idea which one to use?

Don`t use any of the gen1 or gen2 stuff, you haven`t got a Blade.  Its the original SF model not the newer SFII.  You`re headed for disaster if you use anything not made for your phone.  You have the Blade2 or Crescent model.

PsYcHoKiLLa, further to your reply when you said you have used method 5.  Was the phone you were un-bricking a San Francisco 2?
Because I was told on another thread that the firmware flasher files should be ones specifically for an SF2 & using the wrong files would cause more problems & that the files given in the un-brick guide (by hedgepigdaniel) are for the original SF?

Sorry to keep asking such basic questions & by the way I think it would be fantasic if you were to put something on youtube on this subject it would certainly help a lot of 'confused' people like me who are very new to all this.

I have made some progress with un-brick method 5 but have hit a problem installing a stock rom zip file from the sd card using the recovery clockworkmod.  It states.........'(staus 7)  installation is aborted'

The firmware was taken from this link http://www.mediafire...fczy3y0el3zaw6s  in burstlam's post on un-bricking & it all seamed to install correctly because after it was flashed  to the phone it booted ok into FTM mode & then recovery  clockworkmod.

Copied the stock rom .zip file from here http://files.podtwo....ock/zte/blade2/  have tried all four of them for the SF2 & they all failed to install.


So am I again doing something fundamentally wrong in the install procedure of the stock rom?
Or should I be trying different rom zip file?

I would be grateful for any comments.

You're trying to flash a rom for the original blade again!!! Stop it!!! LOL

Use any of these :

Completely Debranded GB Rom : http://www.mediafire...dirubq9bpobb467 (This one was built for the T-Mobile Vivacity so to flash it to your Orange San Francisco II you need to flash the SF2 stock kernel straight after flashing the rom without restarting inbetween) : Download the stock kernel from here

After flashing your rom and restarting, then restarting back into the recovery again, I would recommend flashing the overclockable kernel from Fuzzra :

In case of an upside down front camera (i.e. your front - face - camera shows upside down), use this instead:

This will allow you to overclock the CPU, I'm using MAX of 902MHz, using SetCPU, SetCPU will also allow you to do things like underclocking to the minimum speed when the screen is off (i.e. the phone is not being used) to save A LOT of battery life.

Thanks for the guidance PsYcHoKiLLa this is perfect for the terminally confused like me!!!!!  However, in my defence though the stock roms I used are listed here http://blog.podtwo.c...ock%20ROMs.html under 'san francisco II'

I think I've followed instructions correctly as follows:-
I did a backup using clockworkmod.
Installed Fish n Chips RLS 3 using procedure in this link http://android.modac...rescent-050312/ assume this is ok?
Re-booted into clockworkmod & installed overclockable kernal as recommended.
Both these zip files installed correctly according to the display in clockworkmod.

Tried to power up the phone normally a few times now & it won't boot beyond the green android on the screen.  Have I missed a step somewhere along the way?

Is the other thread still the best way of unlocking the OSF2? I'm planning on going to a contract with Three.

Seemed to be a little more recent, if the last edited date was to go by. I'm not able to test if it's successfully unlocked yet as I don't have a non-Orange SIM until tomorrow, but everything is functional again.

Hi

Still having trouble with booting my SFII into FTM mode it will only boot into clockworkmod.

I have installed debranded version of the stock rom and stock kermel using Clockwork mod these seemed to install with no problems.

Now I think that all I need to do now is to restore .qcn file (that has all the phone settings) using the QPST program. However, with the phone not booting into FTM mode QPST does not see the phone therefore file can not be transfered, have tried to configure another port but still it does want to connect.  Have also re-installed the handset drivers on my PC but no joy!

Is there a way to get the phone to boot into FTM mode?

Or is there another way to restore qcn file on my phone?

Would appreciate some help.

You could try flashing back to the default rom from here :

(If you can't mount the sdcard in clockwork mod then use an adaptor and do it from a laptop/PC). I'm not sure if the default FTM bootloader will be restored but it's worth a try.

Only flashing the stock ROM will return it to FTM mode.  The two do not coexist, if you have a ROM on with the Clockwork Mod built in then you do not see the FTM mode.  Once you get FTM mode on and do whatever you want you then have to flash with a ROM that has the Clockwork Mod on to get back to where you were.  Not awful sure what you`re trying to do at this point.

Have tried to install custom rom & then tried to restore qcn file which has all my settings.  In order to this I need to run QPST program & to connect to the phone it needs to be in FTM mode....I think??

The custom roms & debranded rom I have managed to install these using clockworkmod but once they are installed the phone it will not boot up normally only to the green android screen so i was hoping that restoring the qcn file 'would be the last part in the jigsaw'!!  And that it might finally work.  No such luck!!!

I have tried to install the stock rom suggested by  PsYcHoKiLLa to flash back but it does not load (status 7).....I think that rom is for  a Blade I have an SF2??

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Trust me, it's for the SanFran II, that's why the folder it's in is called blade2
