Presenting... another unbranded ROM for the Blade2/Crescent/San Francisco 2/Vivacity device.

This is based upon the Vivacity P736EV1.0.0B12 ROM with the following changes:

  • All T-Mobile apps removed
  • Custom themings removed and reverted to stock Gingerbread look
  • GPU compositing enabled
  • CRT effect screen off animation enabled
  • ROM fully deodexed
  • Customizations from stock apps removed
  • Google applications updated to latest versions
  • Includes new-look Android Market
  • busybox run-parts support for custom scripts like a2sd
  • APN list updated to include info for most networks
  • Quadrant over 1000 at stock speed
  • ZTE Dialer! (boo, hiss etc)
  • Possible BONUS secret ZTE bugs (yet to be discovered!)
  • Darktremor A2SD to increase app storage! (needs an ext partition on microSD card)
  • Button backlight levels tweaked

This comes as a CWM recovery zip. It will not wipe your data partition but if you are coming from a different rom then it's probably a good idea to wipe first!

Download: flb2-r2a.zip 98.9 MB

MD5 AD68CC47C31EA4D4D4393092F8AD916D

The kernel provided in the ROM is the original stock kernel provided with the Vivacity ROM. This should work for San Francisco 2 owners but if you do have any issues, download and flash the stock kernel below:

San Francisco 2 stock kernel: ouk-stock.zip

T-Mobile Vivacity stock kernel: tmo-stock.zip

(flashing the SanFran2 kernel to your Vivacity will stop the capacitive buttons working!)

Screengrabs because some people forget what stock Gingerbread looks like:

Thanks to kallt_kaffe for the overclocking code, Sebastian404 for recovery (so people can install this), unrandomsam for sorting the unlock out and everyone else in this forum for being awesome and participating.

Disclaimer: If you use this ROM on devices you intend to sell on ebay for profit then I will be very cross with you. Don't leech from the community!

Changelog

r2a

  • Fix for Email.apk crashing

    r2
    • Add Darktremor A2SD
    • Update Busybox to 1.19.3
    • Replace toolbox with Busybox for most system bin
    • Revert ROM to stock kernel
    • Tweak brightness settings for buttons
    • Google Apps updated to latest versions

    r1

      [*]First release

      Install guide

Download the ROM plus the kernel for your device! The custom kernel provided with the ROM is missing front camera support and some users may experience slight touchscreen issues. To resolve these you can flash a stock kernel for your device after you have installed the ROM

      FAQ

      Will there be updates?

Possibly if there are some major bugs to be fixed

      Can you add feature X?

Not really. But in the spirit of community you can make your own versions of the rom with the features you need and share them if you like.

Not much free space on data for my apps!

Blame ZTE for that. Yes.. it's another device with a pitiful amount of data storage.

I need to make an ext partition

Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery and use the partition sd option found in advanced. This will wipe your sd card.

      I have a question but I forgot

      So did I

What CM7 stuff do you mean, Seb?

Actually I might not mean CM7.. but

CRT effect screen off animation enabled

Funky ICS boot animation!

those two ;)

Edit: I just had it pointed out to me that the CRT effect is stock gingerbread... DOH!

Oh that, lol. The boot animation was only because I don't know what the stock animation should look like! I like it better than that nexus one everyone uses.

I need A2SD

You can install Darktremor A2SD or (my favourite) simple2ext from the Android Market. Another option is to use Link2SD.

Don't forget that a2sd needs an ext partition on the sd!

Thanks for the rom Fibblesan.

I use simple2ext on my blade 1 with cyanogen 7 and the market says :

Description

S2E (simple2ext) works only with CyanogenMod7!

Does this definately work on non CyanogenMod roms like yours ?

How much space in /system does this rom take up? Does it redirect cache like in the Blade roms?

Can try and make a TPT to give more space for apps, but need to know how much space the other stuff needs first.

160MB. System partition is 200MB so could be resized and the space given to data. Cache is 50MB so that could be reduced to 15MB.

Kernel has an issue. Loss of front camera and slightly unresponsive touchscreen.

I have added the stock kernel to the first post which will fix front camera and touchscreen sensitivity. You will lose overclocking though!

While partition.mbn is the same for both devices, several of the other files are different. They appear to have different starting layouts, and appsboot.mbn seems to be a different size for each. Made one using the San Francisco II files, but need to check some more to make sure nothing is getting corrupted first as I don't have either to test it on myself.

Thanks once again for the rom Flibblesan.

I was just wondering if you had any idea how I can make the buttons on the vivacity come on in a slighty lighter enviroment?

I find that it has to be really dark before they light up and I cannot see them in certain lighting conditions.

Is there a file that contains these settings that can be edited?

2nded

Some control of that would be excellent! I hold my finger over the sensor to force it on. Takes a couple of seconds to react.

Removed r1 from first post and uploaded r2. No more dodgy custom kernel.

ROM now uses stock kernel with optional SanFran2 kernel for users experiencing issues. A2SD preinstalled and button backlight levels tweaked.

Just flashed and everything went ok. The buttons do seem better thank you..

Just thought I would let you know that your "Funky ICS boot animation!" got removed in this release..

I can restore it from the ver1 rom but thought you'd want to know.
