Thanks to all - I have unlocked and installed Sebs custom rom.
My issue is I can get 3g reception on Orange but not when I switch to Vodafone sim. Is this purely a lack of reception problem or could it be something else? When I use the Vodafone sim in an older phone I do have 3g reception?
I have checked and do have data enabled switched on.

Have you added the APN for Vodafone? It should be somewhere in the mobile data settings.
