I'm not really sure what you're asking here, but I'm guessing you want  to unlock your SFII. In that case you don't have to "run" your phone  first, but it is advisable for two reasons:

1. You don't want your phone to be out of battery while in the process of unlocking, so you want to charge it first.
2. You want to have certain drivers on your computer. The easiest way to install those is to connect your phone using USB.

You obviously haven't read through the forum yet, I would slow down if I were you.

You MUST turn the phone on first because you're gonna need to go backup and note the mac address for the wireless, cos if you lose it your basically f**ked.

SLOW DOWN!

It's not complicated and people have answered you, you obviously didn't read them. There are TONS of tutorials on this forum.

I would use the phone in its stock configuration for a bit, just in case any hardware faults crop up, and you need to send the device back. For example my SF2 had a horrible backlight flickering and audio artefacts when I first received it, both issues have thankfully gone away with use. If I'd messed about with it already, I wouldn't have known if the issues were due to the hardware, or because of my actions. Also I would've had to reflash the device with the stock firmware if I did need to send it back.

Not true, It is purely a suggestion to note the Mac address down as a just incase. If you lose it, Its no BIG deal, We just make up a new one. Chances of it being the same as on your network? Your probably win the jackpot on the lottery first!
