Since Honeycomb, the Android team has been trying to rid apps from use of the hardware menu button. As we know from ICS and the Galaxy nexus, a lot of new apps designed for the platform should make use of the new action bar that sits atop most of Google’s own apps. Unfortunately, uptake has been slow on the new UI paradigm and now Google is stepping up to the plate to promote the new design. First up was the Android Design page, and now they have produced a more in-depth guide to migrating away from the menu button and onto the action bar.
