I think I broke my screen - some advice please?

Hi all, this is one of my first posts but reading your contributions has really helped me dive into Android and helped me decide to grab this bargain of a phone. However, after a month and a half of good times, it appears I may have damaged my screen (which may or may not have involved dropping and/or standing on my phone) and now when i turn on my phone the screen is just black with some cracks of light seeping through. I'm pretty sure its only the screen that is damaged as when I boot it with a new sim, it makes all the sounds of associated with normal functionality, receiving text messages, etc. and all the notification lights work too.

This brings several issues:

  • I don't live in the UK where I bought my phone, although I will be there frequently/this weekend
  • My phone may have been unlocked, rooted and running CM7 so I don't know if that will destroy my chances of sweet-talking Orange to taking a look at it. I also don't know how I can restore the stock image safely without being able to see what's on the screen.
  • I don't know of anywhere I can send my phone to, in order to have it professionally repaired by competent technicians for an affordable price.
  • I don't know if it's possible for me to fix it myself and if so, where I can get a screen affordably (I see DIY screen repairs are very easy and hence popular for other ZTE phones)
  • Nowhere seems to have them in stock at a good price any more, to buy a second one as a cure for my impatience, which is probably a good thing.

I really love this phone and it's still brand new with no scratches and box intact aside from the screen, which appears to be broken *inside* the phone. The front of the screen has no scratches and the backlight still works.

Thanks for any help you can give even if it's a long shot as I'm in a hurry to get this sorted.smile.gif

You could tpt the phone back to stock that would be easy and not really require any seeing of the screen. That would be my idea then take it to orange.
