Monte Carlo vs Vivacity / SF 2??

Argos are having a sale and slashed the price for the Racer, SF 1 and Monte Carlo.

The Monte Carlo is currently 79.99 + 10 top up which as far as I'm aware cheaper than the Vivacity or SF 2.

Give the fact the MC and SF2 both have an 800MHz ARMv6 processor and similar hardware is the MC worth the price or does the SF2 have something better to offer apart from a smaller screen??

The San Fran 2 has 2 cameras (front and rear), Monte Carlo only has the rear camera.

Bit sad, but I think the Vivacity is a seriously good looking phone tongue.gif

Yeah I forgot about the front facing camera but to be honest it's not a feature I really need.

I suppose Skype video calls would be useful but as I understand the SF2 still isn't supported yet.

In any case I would probably do my Skype video chats using a PC + webcam rather than my phone.

Not sure but the glass may be different too. I faced a worse puzzle than this before Christmas and vaguelly recall their was something about the glass and not seeing the screen in sunlight. I could be mistaken but I`m sure it was from people already using the MC. The MC was in stock instore, only a week before Christmas the Vivacity went in stock but only 2 phones instore. The SFII was nil stock right up to Christmas but my catalogue had them in. I really wanted the SFII and as sad as it sounds the free offers too. It went out of stock 3 times at Orange before I got the money together.

All the time I questioned my reasons for all three phones. The SFII was mainly the offers, yes I wanted the piggy bank, the headphones, the key ring and the £20 of horrid apps (one non horrid one of which I paid for anyway). The SFII I also reasoned was from a very well received original SF and part of that family. Likely to have plenty of support in the forums and some decent ROMS and unlocking potential. At the end of the day I still think, even without the freebies, I picked the right one. Its a part of me now and I do not regret a single pound or penny I spent on it, or indeed my choice. I picked mine up from the store (pre ordered 2 days before) on 23rd December 2011 and unlocked it the same night. A day or two later I did my first de branded ROM change, one of 20+ so far. The Fish n Chips ROM is so far the one I keep returning to.

They're both very similar, the main differences being the front facing camera on the SF2 and the larger screen on the MC. The choice is a no brainer for me, as having used the MC for awhile there's no way I'd go back to a phone with a 3.7" screen. It reallly does make a significant difference, imo at least. Also, I believe the MC may have a superior screen irrespective of size, with more colours or something - but whether that translates to any real world difference I don't know. So I'd say MC, but of course opinion will vary between users.

One other thing to consider is the support of both devices. I can't speak for the SF2, but the MC has several great devs working on it, including ICS, CM9 and miui development.
