Is any one using the Portable WiFi Hotspot on the OSFII stock ROM ok?

As soon as I enable it I lose all data connection on the phone and on connected laptop / tablet. Used to work fine on my Blade :-(

I use Jiwire ( http://www.jiwire.com/android ) on the standard rom and also on Fish and Chips rom 1&2 on my OSFII. connections seem good if you have a strong signal. Connections seems to drop if you are at the limit of the signal.

But all in all seems quite good in WiFi hotspots. Range seems pretty good. I can sit in the car at motorway services and get the free WiFi a couple of hundred yards away.

I'm a little confused, You were talking about Portable wifi spots, this means the phone can create its own portable WiFi spot for your laptop or a mates ipod, I have used it and it works fine, but that is because I'm on 3 mobile and they encourage you to do this, o2, Vodafone and Orange don't let you do this unless you buy a plan that allows you to use Portable WiFi and if you do they detect it and shut off your data, At least that's what I read.

when you enable it, the computer that connects to your phone reads Blade S and you have to enter the phones HEX key like any other router, with 3 mobile the computer connects really easy and is quite fast.

Confirmed for O2 / giffgaff johnny

Note that tethering on giffgaff is against their terms and conditions (unless you buy a specific tethering goody bag).

It is but they've said they're going to be changing their packages soon cos they can't afford to keep their deals

Whaaat? I just switched to them too. Hopefully its not going to be too drastic.

Thanks read that. Well as I'm in it for the goodybags... the off plan call costs don't seem to effect me. I'm very happy and the bundle is very generous compared to our other choices of network.
