Yes it is, but only in white. This is a hardware limitation.

Removing the battery is pretty trivial as demonstrated in this video :

On the good side though it is supposed to have a new 'fast charge' technology that charges the phone rapidly to 80% and then basically tricle charges it from that point..

You can also pick up some pretty cheap devices (which look a bit like a hole-punch / stapler) from ebay that will cut it for you.
