Thankfully the external speaker is not much of an issue for me (as long as the headphone volume is OK). Since giving my blade away I've been missing having a phone to play around with and this seems to be a good one to start with. It'll be fun to be at the start of the modding rather then come into a established scene like I did with the blade. My problem now is finding one, went to my 2 local vodafone stores and they are sold out! They said they are hoping to get new stock in tomorrow so I'll try again then. Yeah it's nice and loud for calls via front speaker. Also headphones work great too.I think people also looking at getting the iPod touch should consider this mobile too.
