I have done it 3 times now and my contacts are still there as are my emails in my gmail account. I have cleared cache and data and its still showing up.This is a concern as I may need to return my phone for replacement. I have now managed to remove my contacts but gmail and my gmail address used to sync the phone are still visible. The phone is now stock, non rooted so any information is greatly appreciated. Sebastians stock rom doesnt appear to restore the stock recovery image so I am now having adb issues. Please help or should I just return the phone as it is? Guest Davidoff59 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 Has anyone tried the factory reset yet? If not can any new purchasers set up the email account and then try the factory restore. It should not take long but it could affect a lot of people eventually selling on their phones and not being able to wipe their details without first rooting the phone. Guest Davidoff59 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Mine was unrooted. Having root would have been fine as I could have deleted the details through other means. No. Official ROMs don't require root as they are installed differently. Inside the zip file is a dload folder. This entire folder needs copying to the root of the SD card. Power off the phone completely (pull the battery to ensure this is done) then pressing and holding the VOLUME UP key and VOLUME DOWN key simultaneously, press the POWER key to power on the phone and enter the Software Upgrade Mode. IBM_HTTP_Server at www.huaweidevice.com Port 80 I wonder how these files are encoded they are not ZIP file renames are they some kind of image like the TFT files on the blade? would be nice to open the files up as the big file in the update.app had a stock Android animated boot, the vendor update.app replaced it with the Huawei one. Noticed the first update.app had only the andriod keyboard the smaller second update.app added the cooltek one.
