Wishlist for the G300

Now this device has been out for a week or two I thought it would be fun to gather people's expectations and wishes for the future of this neat little budget device. It's all a bit of fun and no hassling devs please :)

For me I obviously want some well established Modaco devs to pick this phone up and devote some time to it. My main wish is boring but I would LOVE to see a decent cm7 port. Just a nice stable regular port :) Also I wish Huawei would hurry up and put out a speaker fix!

In the future I would also like to maybe see a port of the MIUI mix and match rom from the Skate/OMC.

And like most it would be nice for an official ICS rom sooner rather than later but I'm not holding my breath!

The speaker fix and cm7 can be related. If you manage to use open source libaudio then it will be a piece of cake to fix.

Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to even start porting cm7. I don't know similar devices and I lost my build environment so would need to set up again :(

I did have a feeling cm7 would help with the speaker.

Well I'll start porting cm7 as the same time as I start on cm9. They will be related. But I can't start until I get one which won't be until the 30th of May at the least.

If I had a spare I'd send mine for you to make a start! I'll be a willing tester as soon as you can put something together even if it isn't until you get one.

The problem is not getting one. My exams don't finish until the end of may and a new phone to dev on would be a huge distraction. I'm hoping I can put out a cm7 build a couple of days after I get the phone and a cm9 build not long after.

I want the speaker fixed, but I also want the stupid bounce effect removed too.

I want to be able to be able to turn the g300 on and not have to wait god only knows how long for all the icons for apps on the SD card to load on my home screens. Its a class 6 card

I would like to be able to control what apps run in the back ground for real, not just force close apps only for them to load when they feel like it, but thats also true for my Tab 10.1 too.

Be able to connect to my pc via usb and it connect. not worked for a while now.

I'd like a streak dinner for 5 bux, delivered by a top heavy blonde girl in a pink bikini and roller skates..

I'd also like them to start selling a Black version

I's also like the kernel source code

at least 2 of those are liekly to happen....

Well Vodafone have only got the exclusive contract for 3 months, so it will be interesting too what other operators pick it up and how they personilse it.

I'm looking forward to some CM7 or CM9 builds, see if it's good at overclocking, maybe someone could port Team Win's touch recovery over as well.

Anyone waiting for a black version is silly :) buy a black gel case for it ha ha. I know will once the prices are affordable.

Wah?!?!?! :angry2:

well...the OCD inside me tends to disagree ;) lol

Well the main thing I'd like to see is an overclockable kernel. I mean, 1 gHz chip? Come on, let me run this at at least 2gHz

Im still waiting to see the P range (dual core) and D range (quad core) I'm hoping they go unibody metal for at least one of those... or use a better quality of plastic at the very least...

Well I returned mine today for a refund. So will wait now and see what's coming out. They did say that they had quite a few returned due to the sound issue so they may speed up the fix for you guys.

I want the speaker fixed,

Huawei are working to increase the volume of the speaker.

but I also want the stupid bounce effect removed too.

The 'bounce effect' is part of Android as far as I am aware.

All Android devices do this when apps have been moved to the SD card. Even my old Nexus S had the same delay. It's not a fault of the phone.

Any applications running in the background do not slow the phone down or use any more battery. If the application is not currently being used by yourself then it is suspended by the Android system until you next use it. The exception to this are any applications that access data such as mail applications, Facebook, Twitter. If you don't want these running in the background then the only option is to uninstall them. If you are going on about system applications running then they are running for a very good reason and constantly force closing them will give you more problems. You need to understand how Android works.. try this http://android-devel...ndroid-way.html

Yes well here goes.

But again, you are telling me what I can think and say about the phone I own.

I don't find it very funny what is the point again of a forum if we are not allowed to bitch about a product we own or praise it. which I have done in other posts

Also I find it funny that other people find my video review of this Mobile good.

I have owned a number of Android mobiles and tablets and Apple ios device's and yes they all have there good and bad sides.

What is the Point of asking what people want even when the post was not made by you, if they are not allowed to express their view if it does not match your's.

No doubt you can pull my posts as often as you like if you don't like them. But I think you have to get over yourself. Maybe youre power made, was you bullied at school and only use this forum to take your anger out on strangers.

And to be honest I Really like Webos over Android and iOS, be we have all seen where that went thanks to HP.

We all are been taxed to death etc etc then I have someone that does not know me, personal attack what I say, well thanks you are the bigger man.

I was going to sign up for this using the paid for service this site offers, Because I find this site usefull etc, But after been attacked in a forum for something you did not like, No it was a post about what we wanted, not write down what you think flibblesan might like to hear.

Also I have never seen the bounce effect in android. I have owed the Monte carlo, Samsung Galaxy S and Ace and the Sony ericsson x10 and live with walkman and ARC S, SF 1 Atrix 1 and Motorola defy and a number of other android phones not in any order.

And never seen it before.

If you do not like comments about Mobile phones then I think you are in the wrong game My Son...

Keep removing my posts that is up to you, but don't forget people see them before you take them down.

Your no better than me or the next man, And if you think you are then you are one very sad person.

Lets see how long this post lasts.

You are being extremely over dramatic. Nobody is attacking you and I am certainly not. You gave your thoughts and I do not agree with them which is why I replied to you. Your previous message was removed because it was insulting. You assumed I was attacking you when I was doing nothing of the sort and because of that you felt the need to write a post insulting myself, in integrity and making strange comments about your deceased father. Can you see why that was removed?

I apologise in my previous reply because it was clear you misunderstood my message as being an attack. Even though I absolutely do not consider my reply to be an attack, it was the decent and right thing to do to apologise.

I got this from Huawei about the speaker issue.

Hi Patrick.

We had just wanted to be in touch in person, following your comments here and elsewhere, to let you know a software update will be available shortly to enable you to turn up the volume settings on your Ascend G 300.

We cannot be any more specific with timings at present, but we expect to be in a position to give more detail in the next week or so. Please bear with us. Our technical team has responded, and is doing its best to offer an update. We really appreciate your feedback, and bringing it to our attention.

If you would like to speak with any of the team about the matter, in person, then please drop us a message with your number and we can arrange a more convenient time to chat through. Thanks again.

James.
