My phone, and probably others has an NFC program on the phone. It was always there, before and after I updated. My phone was purchased from the vodafone shop, so it isnt the NFC enabled U8815.

No. Next question.

So as not to be rude...as far as I am aware the Chinese U8818 does have NFC and they share the same software. Huawei were just lazy so didn't remove the files from our U8815.

Flibblesan described it as being done so that they only have to update 1 rom rather than 2 roms. It makes sense really given that the only apparent difference is that one phone has nfc and the other doesnt. With custom roms this will be removed if it is not needed.

The Chinese U8818 phone only has a 1350mah battery compared to our 1500mah. So I'm guessing the NFC chip is in the Chinese battery.

It could be in the rear cover, but where are the connectors?

I'll be in china next week, if anyone on the UK is interested in trying NFC hardware for their phone let me know!

I definitely would be interested to try out NFC. If you are able to get the components I would take a "set", too.

Thanks,

Fabrizio

Fully Integrated into the handset: NFC,

especially in newer devices, can be fully

integrated into the handset. That means that

the NFC controller ( the piece that does the

actual communication) and the secure

element ( the secure storage area connected

to the NFC controller) are both integrated

into the handset itself. One example of a

fully integrated NFC handset is the Google

Nexus S, Google's latest flagship phone built

in partnership with Samsung.

On a SIM card: Alternately, NFC can be

integrated into a SIM card - the card that

identifies a mobile subscriber on an

operator's cellular network.

On a microSD card: NFC technology can

also be integrated on a microSD card, which

is a removable storage card that uses flash

memory. Many mobile phone owners use

microSD cards to store photos, videos, apps

and other files in order to save storage space

on the phone itself. For phones that don't

have a microSD card slot, accessories like

cases or "sleeves" can be used instead. For

example,

I think its self explanatory really. There are 3 ways of implementing nfc.Factory Built in, SD card and sim card. There would have to be some implementation for it to interact with the screen and the phone though. I'm wondering how this works as its a slower data transfer than Bluetooth so its hard to know whether getting a battery or back cover with nfc built in will work anyway.

I think that description on ebay means that is compatible with u8818 nfc too. I think that battery does not have nfc at all.
