im going to buy one of these two i no huwaie ascend g300 is better but its only on vodofone and i fi unlock it i dont want the vidofone stuff you cant delete and would you still be able to update it which one should i buy ?

Hi gifgaff.  have a look around this forum and you'll see that the vodafone stuff can be removed by flashing one of the roms available from here.  As for updating, it depends what you mean, ICS has been promised by Huawei in the coming months and if you have a look around this forum you will see active development of other flavours such as CM9.  As for which one you should buy, that is your choice.  If you could try out both I suspect you would opt for the G300.  Vodafone unlocks are less than £10 on ebay or you could be really lucky and get a factory unlocked one straight from voda online like I did.

Agreed,the galaxy ace is not even in the same league as g300,and it cost more because it has Samsung name.lol
I cannot remember the screen resolution,but I am sure it was a lot lower than 480x800 which is what the g300 has.Also,ace is Armv6 800Mhz & g300 is Armv7 1Ghz there is no comparison really.

good replys thx so what exzactly is root will it be the same OS but i would be able to delete more / have more control how does it work googled it could find out its like a jailbreak but nothing really in detail

ive heard some aspects of the phone can stop working when you unlock it if i bought the huawei ascend and unlocked it and used giffgaff sim would i still be able to download apps update firmware ,use everything the same

root is giving you full control of the phone, giving you administrator privileges.

The only aspects of the phone that wont work are things like movie rentals as rooted phones are barred from renting.

Giffgaff here and no issues whatsoever.

If you have ever tried to use Samsung Kies, you would stay well away. The single worst piece of software that I have ever used and it never worked. GF has a Samsung galaxy Europa which cost about £100 about a year and a half ago. You can get so much more for your money nowadays.

only decent looking phones i saw in £100 price range was samsung ace, ascend ,san francisco and viancity , im only going to use giffgaff so it would be best to buy on 02
