Samsung Galaxy S III XALF2 (ICS v4.0.4) ROM

This is an International I9300 ROM

Notes about this ROM (mostly because of Samsung code re-writes):
1) See Gary's ROM Discussion thread Post #3 for 15-button QP (CWM zip file)
2) No custom Boot Animation - waiting for CF kernel or Siyah Kernel to support it
3) No toggle settings to remove clock / AMPM from status bar - again Samsung re-wrote a lot of code
4) CRT effect does not work - Samsung issue

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING IN THIS POST BEFORE INSTALLING.


This IS a FULL-WIPE complete ROM.

Assumes you have ClockworkMod on your phone.

MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU START IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG. VERY IMPORTANT!
BACKUP YOUR DATA AS THIS IS A FULL-WIPE ROM.

1. Download the XALF2-Wipe.zip   (This is a CWM version - requires Clockwork Mod to install)
2. copy the XALF2-Wipe.zip file to your sdcard (you can use adb do do this)
3. reboot your phone into recovery (CWM recovery)
4. do a datawipe/factory reset
5. install using CWM recovery
6. when finished reboot phone
7. skip signing in to Google and go to home screen
8. after you get to the homescreen, reboot into recovery
9. do a factory reset
10. reboot

After the reboot it could take 2-3 minutes for the phone to completely boot as it has to refresh the dalvik cache. Have some patience at this point.

If the phone won't get past the bootanimation, power the phone off (hold the power button til it goes off) and power back up.

NOTE: You should always do a factory reset after flashing or installing a new rom. You can do this from recovery. Do this BEFORE restoring your old data.

Please provide feedback as I have done extensive testing with this and have had no problems.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but using the rom above - Samsung Galaxy S III XXBLG1 (ICS v4.0.4) ROM
Should my home screen rotate ? The lock screen now rotates but the home screens do not. Is this correct ?

What is '15-button quick panel toggles' and how do I use them ? - Think I worked this one out. These are the extra toggles switches on the pull down notifications thing with an app that lets you control which you see ?

Well...gee...first of all...did you read the title? ROM updates only! There is a separate thread for comments and discussions about my ROMs.

Uh...did you read the ROM post? It explains all the changes. Yes, your phone will now rotate in all directions and no it won't rotate the home screen because it is a TouchWiz issue. If you use another launcher (home screen app) it will rotate.

The 15-buttons are quick panel toggles for various things like rotation, wifi, sound, etc. Long pressing them will take you to settings.

2. copy the XXBLG8_Wipe.zip file to your sdcard (you can use adb do do this)
3. reboot your phone into recovery (CWM recovery)
4. do a datawipe/factory reset
5. install using CWM recovery
6. when finished reboot phone
7. skip signing in to Google and go to home screen
8. after you get to the homescreen, reboot into recovery
9. do a factory reset
10. reboot

After the reboot it could take 2-3 minutes for the phone to completely boot as it has to refresh the dalvik cache. Have some patience at this point.

If the phone won't get past the bootanimation, power the phone off (hold the power button til it goes off) and power back up.

NOTE: You should always do a factory reset after flashing or installing a new rom. You can do this from recovery. Do this BEFORE restoring your old data.

This IS a FULL-WIPE complete ROM.

Assumes you have ClockworkMod on your phone.

MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU START IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG. VERY IMPORTANT!

BACKUP YOUR DATA AS THIS IS A FULL-WIPE ROM.

1. Download the XXDLI5_Wipe.zip   (This is a CWM version - requires Clockwork Mod to install)
2. copy the XXDLI5_Wipe.zip file to your sdcard (you can use adb do do this)
3. reboot your phone into recovery (CWM recovery)
4. do a datawipe/factory reset
5. install using CWM recovery
6. when finished reboot phone


After the reboot it could take 2-3 minutes for the phone to completely boot as it has to refresh the dalvik cache. Have some patience at this point.

If the phone won't get past the bootanimation, power the phone off (hold the power button til it goes off) and power back up.


Please provide feedback as I have done extensive testing with this and have had no problems.

If you do a data-wipe after installing rom and need to restore your custom boot animation, copy /system/media/bootanimation.zip to /data/local
