On cm7 there is search softkey for statusbar but never in my time with cm7 did I enable it,seems a bit pointless when you either have search bar widget or one click of browser opens google ;)

Use mine all the time. It's not just for Google, but for in app search too.

I'd hate to have a phone without it (native ICS, I'm looking at you).

What apps do you need to search inside of? I'm thinking maybe music apps? I've had a few android phones with it but not ever used it once.

I know people who still do this, to get to a website, on Desktop PCs:

Open browser >> Enter name of site into Google >> click applicable site, to get to it

Amusing as anything ^_^

I never used Google toolbars...

You can use it to perform basic functions aswell, I sent a text to my sister with the voice search was pretty funny.

I use mine for searching and also for switching wifi on and off (via a wifi toggle assigned to long press on the search button).
I really missed it on my SGS2.

I have never ever used it except for when I have accidentally pressed it once or twice. Never really seen the point in it tbh.

I guess. The only android I previously had with a search button was my HTC Wildfire, but I never used it on that either. To me it's totally superfluous.

So I've had a One X for a little while, and it turns out I don't miss the search button as much as I expected.
