If it's made with webpages does that mean it'll basically be infinitely customisable? To be honest the default theme leaves a lot to be desired.

So, it wouldn't work very well on our devices anyway I imagine?..

Being armv6 and all, the web based apps simply won't run properly.

Facebook has problems loading up the thing I want (notifications, messages) on the first hit. It's very slow to react.

Also, html5 isn't the best on our devices.

What will this mean for apps?..

Yeah. It's a complete web based experience, rubbish if you have no Internet.

Wrong. You can use it as you would a normal smartphone without internet.

But if it is a full web style experience, how?..

I read up on it and, correct me if I'm wrong, it uses the Internet for near enough everything?..

Sadly our skates aren't strong on the Internet.. :/ it would take a lot of optimising...

The interface is built on HTML5. Doesn't mean it has to be online. Take Angry Birds Chrome for example. Built wholly on HTML5, but after you've downloaded it on Chrome OS or Chrome, you can play it offline. And it's still HTML5.

This is true. Didn't think of that.

Through recovery. The very low level code is based losely on android.

And no WP7 lol.

Ok so it is "based" on android.

:( :)

Not really. When I say low level, I mean it. This is like ridiculously low and is probably common to all mobile oses.

I think some things need to be cleared up here.

- *sigh* yes the Skate is ARMv6. Not sure where people got ARMv7 from.

- "Web-based" doesn't mean it requires Internet to work. Any HTML elements are stored locally.

- Like Lalit says, it's "based" on Android, but it doesn't mean much to us, other than it's likely we can flash it through a recovery.

- The reason we can't get WP7 is because this is open-source and WP7 isn't.

- Being open-source, it's already 'infinitely customizable', HTML-based or not.

Also, it's called Boot To Gecko (or B2G for short), not Firefox OS (though that is essentially what it is, since is also uses the Gecko engine). Foot, meet mouth.

if I remember correctly, the device Mozilla handed out with B2G was the Nexus S (correct me if not). That definitely means it may be possible to run it on other Android phones as well.
