I have a question regarding a possible mod for the Maps app on the Nexus 7 (and maybe it would work on my GNex).

Downloading Google Apps Offline can take up quite a bit of space, especially if you are going on a loooong journey. So I just wondered if there was anyway that you could download the required route (square by square), and instead of storing it on the device, would it be possible to mod it so it reads off a USB Drive via a USB-OTG cable?

At least this way you have pretty much unlimited storage for Map data?

I hope this makes some sense?
