Just looking to update the phone from scratch when i get it tomorow. Not looking to root it but want to put ICS on it and if its right to do so at that point, put a ROM on top of it. Looking quickly at the foums, i need to follow

Can i then put

on top of that? looking at the B numbers, looks like it wont be possible.

also, what are clockworkmod and gapps? good tech level but new to all this phone software stuff and just want to get it right.

Have you read the very first linked thread in your post???

You need to be rooted before doing the IMEI backup so if you haven't already rooted your phone please visit the following link and get root before going any further: http://www.modaco.co...-mac-and-linux/

You really need to be rooted, for a variety of reasons, not least backing up your IMEI, as above....

rooting is easy.....

i misunderstood then, i'll have to root. probably got the terms wrong.
