Looking for a case for your Nexus 7? Well I have a few here to talk about (and more on the way) so here's my thoughts on them! :)

Amzer Silicone Skin Jelly Case (Orange) - $19.95 - buy

This is a thick, good quality silicone case. It effectively protects the whole device and feels like it will withstand a fair drop or knock. The screen cutout is perfectly placed and feels fine in use, there are also cutouts for the front facing camera, microphone, headphone port, USB port and speaker. The power and volume keys are pressed through the case, which works fine.

The case adds a fair amount of bulk to the device, but if your devices take some abuse, it's probably a good choice with a screen protector.

Upon opening the case had that awful silicone smell, but after a few days, that has thankfully subsided.

Amzer TPU Hybrid Case (White) - $14.95 - buy

This white TPU case (also available in clear and black) covers the back and the edges of the device as well as providing a small lip on the front, handy if you put your device face down.

There are cutouts for the volume / power keys, microphone, headphone port, USB port and speaker.

The case has a part grippy / part gloss back (hence the name) and doesn't add too much bulk. This is a decent choice if you use a full front protector or a slip case.

Boxwave Airwave (Smoke Grey) - buy

This smoke grey TPU case (also available in purple and black) covers the back and the edges of the device as well as providing a small lip on the front, handy if you put your device face down.

There are cutouts for the volume / power keys, microphone, headphone port, USB port and speaker.

The case has a grippy back, useful if you are prone to dropping your device and doesn't add too much bulk. This is a decent choice if you use a full front protector or a slip case.

Boxwave Manila Leather Enveloper - $29.95 - buy

Made famous by Apple with their original Macbook Air launch, the Manila (synthetic) Leather Enveloper has a soft felt lining and fits the Nexus 7 perfectly.

The case is held closed by the red nylon string.

This is a very stylish case for those who like to use their device 'naked' - I like it. :)

Boxwave Midnight Tiger Suit - $29.95 - buy

This neoprene slip case has a smart textured design on the front and back and has a double zip at the top which seems to be high quality.

The case thickness provides some padding while not making the device too big to chuck in a bag. The tablet fits very snugly, but neoprene 'lips' at the top of the case hopefully protect the device from the zips when closed.

Boxwave Nero Leather Book Jacket - $39.95 - buy

This synthetic leather case provides a book style jacket which is held to the device via 3 clips on the top and 3 on the bottom. As well as being used in this way, the two left hand clips can be unclipped and the device propped up using the grooves in the jacket cover, great for watching videos etc.

The case has circular holes on the back for the speaker and all other ports are accessible.

I'm personally a fan of this case, it clips closed securely and is pretty versatile. It also has an elasticaed strip that goes over your hand when folded open for holding the device securely.

EDIT: Boxwave have sent me a replacement and the smart on / off functionality works great! :)

Boxwave UniColor with Stand (Frosted Black) - $24.95 - buy

This case is quite unusual. Available in black, blue, purple, red and white, it has TPU protection for the edges of the device and a clear back panel with a kickstand. This case too adds a small lip on the front, handy if you put your device face down.

There are cutouts for the volume / power keys, microphone, headphone port, USB port and speaker.

The kickstand feels a little flimsy at first but in use it's actually very effective and pretty sturdy - a reasonable implementation without adding too much bulk to the device. The clear back has an added bonus in that the Nexus branding is still visible. I like that. :)

I got the this case here from the big A store. And I have to say I'm quite satisfied. It does what I bought it for and that is the ability to build a stand for the tablet and it does have the magnets to use the on/off automatic of the GN7. Oh - and I almost forgot: it is really cheap but doesn't look like it!

I bought one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170883934255

£3.89 with free delivery and free screen protector. It fits really well and doesn't add a lot of bulk, but will save the tab from scratches and knocks.

Also got one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130693035275

£1.75 with free delivery. Tab fit in this sleeve even when its got the above case on too. Gives it some extra padding for when i shove it into my bag for work.

Both sellers delivered withing 2 days or my order, but YMMV.

Pretty good protection for under £6 i think!

I'm looking for a slim book-like cover for my N7, so that Nero Leather Book Jacket looks really interesting, if they really updated it with wake/sleep magnet.

I'm also quite fixated with the hardcover/moleskine type, a'la DODOcase or TreeGloo and they are similar in price to Nero... I probably will go to my local bookbinder and check if I can have something custom-made ;) and for now I'll stick with an envelope/pouch.

As it doesn't "cover" the whole tablet, that's an even more inappropriate description ;) its probably better described as a "bumper" tho...

There's another slim folio case, pretty much a clone of Apple's smart case/smart cover - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008W22BJQ/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=electronics

Looks nice, comes in a pretty wide choice of colours and the price seems good. I'm torn between that and the 'Nero Leather Book Jacket' (which comes under a variety of brandings on Amazon - IVSO, Poetic, etc)

I've seen a lot of people getting the LuvTab ones and being pretty satisfied!

Bargain! :)

They shipped me out a second one and the wake / sleep works great! :)

Yes, that's what I like about it. I decided that a leather folio is a bit too 'business' for me, so I went for that IVSO Slim Smart Cover, in orange. It should arrive sometime next week, I'll post some impressions and maybe photos as well.

Same case I have and personally suits nearly all my needs (being fussy) just no Portrait stand positioning.

I like the sleep function bilt into the screen cover along with the fact it acts as a handle when folded.

Just got my Nex7 and loving it, looking into a case but this is the only one I've seen that I like the look of but it's not available yet:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Poetic-Slimline-Portfolio-Automatically-Manufacturer/dp/B008NMCPTQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1347121663&sr=8-3

The others on Amazon look good but I'm not keen on the case going over the bezel so only the screen is visible. Anyone know of a good case available now with a similar design to the one linked above?

The IVSO one I got (and linked several posts higher) is quite similar, though a bit chunkier, judging by the photos. It is a good case nonetheless, available now and in wider colour range and also significantly cheaper if you get it from Ebay (it's shipping from Hong Kong anyway.)

I've got a LuvTab faux leather brown. It has the auto on/off magnets, you can fold up the front cover to make a landscape stand and it looks quite nice.

It has been causing me an issue for which, until I worked it out, almost had me returning my Nexus 7. I think the magnets in my cover are probably a bit too powerful. I would open the case and fold it round the back, the screen would come on, I'd enter my pin, the screen would go off with a click, and this would be repeated over and over. Took me an age to figure out it was just the case causing it to auto off. Why auto off seems most sensitive just after entering my pin I don't know but it's easy to avoid now as I just don't fold the case flat till after I've entered my pin and it seems fine.

I posted about this a while ago. Thought I must have been the only one with the problem. Worried me for a while till I realised its just the case!
