To add a bit to "useless." The current anti-virus programs have no heuristic algorithm, it just blocks known malware apps. However, this is what the market does as well, so unless you install a lot of apps from shady websites you won't need an anti-virus program (yet anyway.)

I use avast because it gas a cool (and free) anti theft system
