for those that like/want the new cm10 bootanimation (really like it myself)

have extracted it from blade kanstakang rom (thanks guys)

This is a preview, but v nice. (Thanks to Daz for keeping finger on the pulse here)

it's only 1.1mb (nice compared to the old 4.1mb one)

for pictures of it just google 'cm10 boot animation'

I don't doubt that Daz will be putting it into the next release anyway (nice work by the way Daz, CM10 coming along nice...)

I've put the file bootanimation.zip here: http://rollestonpark...otanimation.zip

you need to use es file explorer (or similiar) with root privilages and copy the file into: /system/media/

after that use the properties to set permissions to: rw- r-- r--

reboot to test.

Enjoy

Chris

edit: make sure you have enough space on system partition first.....

That's not the final animation, it's going to be tweaked, Konsta cherry picked the "release candidate" if you will from Gerrit for the sake of that build.

It's not up to me when it goes in my builds, it will happen when it's finalised. I rarely cherry pick things.

Just downloaded the 480x800 one, it doesn't seem to be a flashable zip though, I opened it up and inside is just another zip and inside that is the animation files and CWM zips should include 2 folders and they weren't there. I'm not comfortable using a file manager to mess around with things like this haha.

Thanks

Ah okay, I'll wait for somebody to do some flashable zips, the XDA forums will probably have them sorted soon enough.

Thanks for the help

Follow this it's easy once you know how!

1. Grab ES File explorer from Google Play (free)

2. Open ES explorer and go to menu/settings. Scroll down to borttom and tick 'Root Explorer' and 'Mount System File'

3. Download which ever bootanimation.zip file you want to use and place on SD

4. Do NOT unzip this file

5. In ES, Copy file from SD root, then press 'Favourites', then click on the phone icon

6. Navigate to 'System' folder, then 'media' folder

7. Paste file here

8. Long press on bootanimation.zip file to bring up menu, scroll down and click properties

9. Clcik 'Change' button beside permissions

10. 'User' should have read and write ticked, 'Group' have read ticked, 'Other' have read ticked. Press OK

11. Reboot !

Just tried that but it didn't work. Rebooted device and it was just plain black, no animation appeared.

Thanks

That's strange. I've got the boot animation posted by chris231 working with the above method - and very smart it is too!

Found a zip on XDA for our devices (480x800)

Instant download link below;

http://files.jacob-w...mation_WVGA.zip

I'll flash it in a sec

edit-

I used the zip that Daz linked me to so that could explain why it never worked.

edit-

That zip didn't work.

I used the method in the first post and installed it via that. Looks great.
