Xperia Tipo or Crescent

Hello guys,

I've found a cheap 2 year contract for the new Xperia Tipo and I'm thinking of purchasing it to replace my Crescent. What do you guys think? Good idea or should I stick with my Crescent?

Tipo specs;

800MHz single-core processor

512MB of RAM

2.5GB of internal storage

3.2-inch 320x480 display

Android 4.0 ICS

3.2MP camera (No flash or auto focus)

And a micro SD slot.

The only thing putting me off is no root access yet.

This would only cost me £7.50 a month for 5000 texts, 500mb and 250 minutes over a 2 year contract so I'm debating it because it's a bargain and I can't see the Crescent getting any further in terms of development due to limitations. My dad is also after my Crescent as he knows it blows his Blackberry out of the water, so if I got it they'd be no going back as he'd get my current device.

Opinions?

Yeah the screen and camera aren't as good as the Crescent but it doesn't look like a bad phone. Plus I only use my camera for quick snaps for Facebook/Twitter/Instragram.

Could you see the Tipo gaining root soon enough?

I don't think it's very fair to ask someone else to do your gambling. :P

I usually don't buy phones until they at least have a forum somewhere. You might want to check that out first.

So, apart from better Internal storage, where is this device better??

and Internal storage is easily solved.....DT A2SD, Link2sd....

I think you can get another TMV for around £50.....for you or yer Dad :D

Edit: sorry I missed ARM7.....still??

BTW....my missus Crescent on F&C... o/c to over 1GHz, running luvvly!!

Tipo has bootloader locked but will be unlockable (like all 2012 Xperias). Get an insecure kernel in there, push the su binary and there is your root access.

Thanks for the reply guys, I'm going to give it a miss, I'll wait another few months and see what phones are on the market for £15 per month contracts.

Plus, I'd miss my Crescent way too much. It's the first phone I've actually enjoyed using and flashing!
