G300 WiFi drops off when playing music over bluetooth

Hi I sometimes listen to music on my G300 at home using a logitech wrls Bluetooth adapter connected to an amp. It sounds great if playing mp3s on the sd card .

But when i try to use we7 or internet radio apps the wifi stops working as soon as bluetooth is switched on and the phone pairs with the logitech box. The wifi seems still connected with a good signal but internet access drops off and the music soon stops. It seems the G300 has a problem connecting to wifi and bluetooth at the same time. Has anyone got the same problem or know a work around?

could it be my router?

my g300 is still on gingerbread and not rooted or unlocked.

PROBLEM SOLVED. CAUSED BY TALKTALK ROUTER D-Link DSL 2780.

Thanks for the reply Andy. I was hoping there might be a software/firmware solution.

I'm not too tech savvy but from looking around the net to find an answer I'm beginning to think it could be something to do with the snapdragon s1 processor which i think has bluetooth and wifi built into the chip. if so then other phones with the s1 will have similar problems.

ah bugger this was a problem on Blade, BT didn't work well with wifi!

is a problem for those who use streaming radio and a BT speaker like Jambox.. bummer that G300 has same issue.

Hm that's odd, I have a Belkin Bluetooth Receiver connected to my computer speakers, and listening to TuneIn Radio and connected to the speakers over bluetooth works for me?

Cheers Jamie,

That's good news.

Tunein won't work for me over bluetooth and wifi but works with wifi off and 3g on.

It's wierd as I have no problems with wifi otherwise and the connection and signal is good. Same with bluetooth it works perfectly. But as soon as I have both enabled I lose wifi.

Maybe my talktalk router wont play nice with bluetooth devices nearby. My laptop stays online though.

Could be the logitech bluetooth receiver but I've not read about any problems with it.

I'm Baffled. Anyone got any ideas??

I presume it's this one? http://www.bluetoothmusicreceiversale.com/images_products/Logitech-Wireless-Speaker-Adapter-for-Bluetooth-Audio-Devices.jpg

I have the Belkin receiver and absolutely love it! Works really well with both my Nexus 7 and my G300!

How far apart are your router/modem and the receiver? Mine are right beside each other but I doubt that would make a difference?

Have you another phone or anything with wifi you could try it with? That might be a good place to start :)

That's the one. It was a coin toss between the logitech and the Belkin really. My router and bluetooth box are about 5 feet apart just now.

I don't have another wifi device but can borrow one in a few days. Also I'll take the bluetooth receiver and G300 to a friend with a different router and broadband setup and see if I can connect there.

I don't have any issues like that either. I have three Bluetooth receivers, one of these http://www.ebay.co.u...=item416a04d62f , one of these http://www.ebay.co.u...=item19cd9ea85c and a pair of Bluetooth headphones. I regularly use the TuneIn app and the Absolute Radio app on my G300 and it works fine.

Just make sure your WiFi sleep policy is set to always on otherwise the WiFi will turn off when the screen goes to sleep.

I had originally saw the Logitech one but then discovered the Belkin one, and Belkin being one of my favourite brands was the reason I got it haha.

It would be interesting to see if another device works, if it does then it's definitely the G300..

Yeah that caught me out when I streamed from TuneIn the first time haha.

Thanks for the feedback. 'Seems like I'm the only one with a problem.

Yep looked at that wifi sleep setting, mine was already set always on.

Yeah I'll be messing about with different combos this weeked. Either I have a strange fault on my phone (everything else works fine) or there's a compatibility problem with the router or bluetooth box.. it's driving me nuts...

I'll post up anything that might be useful.

No problem :-)

Are there any other wifi networks around you can connect to and see if that does anything different when streaming?

Update.

Seems like it's not the g300 at fault nor the Bluetooth adapter. I think it's the talktalk router that's causing the problems. Its a dlink dsl 2780.

I just bought some cheapo Bluetooth headphones and they work fine at friends with sky wifi. I can listen to streaming music etc with no dropouts. When I try the same at home I get exactly the same problem as with the logitech Bluetooth adapter.

I think I need to get a new router. I've tried changing the WiFi settings/channels but nothing helps. It just won't work. this router has been reported having issues with iPhones and bluetooth speakers too.

Can you guys tell me who you use for broadband and the router model? Anyone know an alternative router that is sure to work?

TalkTalk called me today and wanted to help, so I asked if they would send me a new router (my talk talk router is ancient) - yes! And no charge! I'm hoping it is this one: http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2012/05/talktalk-uk-isp-trial-reveals-new-router-for-forthcoming-youview-tv-service.html

If you ask, maybe they send a new one. When it arrives, I'll let you know how well it works

As Suspected the G300 wasn't at fault. It was the rubbish DSL-2780 router that Talktalk provided. I picked up a a Thompson TG585 v8 for a few quid off ebay and I can now stream music while playing through bluetooth.

I can listen to music using Jango perfectly. Not tested any other services or internet radio yet but see no reason for any problems.
