Faulty model?

hey guys, I got my mum one of these for her birthday and while playing a game it froze, i told her to wait and it would force close eventually but it didnt, the battery died and when she turned it back on it reset as though it was brand new. I told her it was probably a one off but after a week it did the same again. I took it back to vodafone but they refused to replace it as I didnt have the receipt. has anyone else experienced this? if so did you fix it or know what caused it?

Its a known fault, not exactly common but there have been a few reports of it. Its a motherboard fault.

so purchasing a replacement will mean having one with the same fault is unlikely?

I've always been unlucky buying gadgets. my first laptop died within a week, faulty motherboard. I went through 3 ebook readers a few years ago cos they kept dying and now I manage to get a faulty phone for my mum. Call me Lucky.

according to the Sale of Goods Act you dont need a receipt, any proof of purchase should be accepted, such as a credit card or bank statement.
