How does one go about deleting some of the included apps such as twitter and facebook? I'm on stock ICS (NZ) and am rooted. I thought one you had root you could delete the crapware/bloatware. I'm running out of room on the phone for apps, and want to clear a couple out that I don't use.

How annoying is it hacing a seperate 2GB partition that you can't stick your apps onto.

Deleting the .apk's concerning these apps from /system/app using a file manager of your choosing should do the trick.  ES File Explorer will work for example.

Ok, that sounds easy, I can't actually see said apps in that path. Would the protected ones be hidden somewhere else?

Just install titanium backup from the market and remove `em through that. Just be careful you don`t go on a deleting spree and get rid of some system apps. :D

Or search the market for a tool such as 'system app remover'

Maybe they are not in /system/app. They could be in /cust/*****/app (or similar), or maybe in /data/******. I can't remember the folder's names, but I now in some ROM some apps pre-installed (mostly Facebook,Twitter and Documents to GO) were somewhere else not in /system/app.
Regards.

I don't understand why people go to the bother of manually deleting apps when countless apps will do it for you. Even if you don't want an extra app for uninstalling, surely you can just install it, use it to remove the apps you don't want then uninstall it normally again. Is there some advantage over doing it by hand?

Best not to remove the apps fully just freeze them in titanium that way you still get updates and should you ever want to use them again just defrost them as they don't show on you're phone or use any ram.

Deleting an apk 'manually' is not as you say a bother, in fact I find it quick and easy to do. Quicker than installing another app to do it for me by a country mile. Some people prefer their hand held while carrying out such tasks which is fair enough. Horses for courses really.

Off topic but I don't understand people who use a weather widget on their home screens. I find it way easier to look out the window...

Well the reason I asked that question here and now was because of the post above mine, which would indicate it's not always as straightforward as you suggest. There was also another topic here a few days ago with someone struggling to uninstall something until they finally used ROM Toolbox, which did it instantly with no hassles. Just seems bizarre to me unless there was some advantage to doing it manually which I wasn't aware of, which it appears there isn't.

Look at the screen shots thread.  15 images show a weather widget.  12 just show today's weather and only 3 show any future data.  I reiterate, what's the point.

Any way enjoy your bbq. :)

I've tried everything except rom toolbox, I guess I'll give that a go next. I wouldn't mind them staying there so much if I wasn't running out of room.
