A month or two back, Huawei sent me a Honor U8860 to review. It's a nice little handset, but very much handicapped by Gingerbread. Given the audience, I decided to wait until ICS dropped before writing up the review and FINALLY, that's starting to happen!

The first point to note is that territories seem to be coming online bit-by-bit... the UK release doesn't seem to be available yet but builds are available for other countries that work fine on UK devices... i've updated mine!

Builds I have found so far include...

• China release - V100R001CHNC00B932SP01 - download
  
• Finland release - V100R001C00B923SP01 - download
  
• Germany release - V100R001C00B924 - download
  
• Norway release - V100R001C00B925 - download

As you can see, the Norway release has the newest version number and this is what i've installed. This is also generic ICS with virtually no customisations whatsoever... if you want the Huawei UI, the German release is recommended.

I'll update the post as I come across other territories but in the meantime, if you're a Honor user, let us know how you're finding the update!

I went through some trouble updating my phone a few months ago and had to pay to get it fixed to an official ics build. The build I have now is V100R001C00B977. I'm relatively satisfied with it though it still has a number of bugs such as not being able to show flash properly. The build didn't even have any google apps on it such as Google Play so I had to put it on myself.

May I ask if the Norway build has any of these problems when you updated? I'd be grateful If you could show us some screencaps. Were there a load of stock apps that you didn't want? My current version had a few but it also gave me the option to disable them.

I am using the B923. It's a really good firmware and stable for everyday use but i have notice some bugs like cant upload facebook photos or front cam doesnt work with skype and other small bugs with some apps. Now i am upgrading to Norway version! It looks faster to me from some videos i wacthed at youtube. Thanks a lot for the info Paul

I'm using the  B923SP01 as well but I could have sworn I thought it was to be Norway. I can never get Norway, it's always 404 error but that's it downloading now.
It's ok but my Slide-it keyboard seems really sluggish & laggy on it and I swear by it normally. Deleting is very awkward as takes half a dozen deletes to do only a couple of letters.
I'll try Norway or maybe German later to see if thats any better. Does anyone feels the touch has to be really firm compared to GB? Also the screen is very low level light compared to previous but if thats to save battery then just take it off auto I suppose. At least this has facebook proper on it compared the the Huawei Stream rubbish (I'm not a devout follower so don't judge me but it IS very handy sometimes - monthly posts lol).
Rooting - anyone succesfully done this as I've not tried with it as only just got it and want to do it with a high success rate? I can't afford to brick and waste money.
I'm really glad I didn't buy the Sony P as that was the other 4" screen that almost had my money. I was tempted to hold off for another ZTE but needed a replacement for Blade and did not want larger than this screen size.

I was also previously using FTL but doesnt seem to work very well on this so back to standard.

Cheers P. Why wasn't the like of that on power etc? See thats what happens when there's no instructions with phones these days and you don't download them either.
Why only camera & unlock options on ICS instead of the multi options on GB? I would've thought it be the other way around unless to keep it clean.
I did get Norway on my phone eventually but I think the old card I used had Swedish Spring or similar on it from my Blade unless it's supposed to have the Huawei logo then nice silvery android logo doing its shine? I don't think so. Looks good though. No problems so far other than the ones I create through stupidity and ignorance (no comments please!!)

Hello everybody,

if someone will download the french B926 ROM (ICS 4.0.3), it is available here ( "téléchargement" ) : http://www.huaweidev...rtphones/honour , there is also a PDF doc who gives some instructions.

A "small" new ROM B927 appeared yesterday, but we don't know yet officially from Huawei France what it brings (at least, it seems Google Chrome and Google Play Books ).
