SD card removed unexpectedly / testing SD card?

Hi,

Has anyone else experienced "SD card removed unexpectedly" errors on their G300? It happens to me about once a day - it then remounts the SD card a few seconds later, but interrupts e.g. music playing from it. I've noticed it most often when listening to music, but also when using apps, so I don't know if it's related to accessing the card - as I understand it, apps are installed to the SD with Infusion, so that could be the case.

It's been happening since I got the phone (a couple of weeks ago), although I have been running Infusion pretty much all that time so I'm wondering if it could be ROM related?

The SD card is a brand new Sandisk Class 4 32GB MicroSDHC from Carphone Warehouse (I know, I know, paid well over the odds but I wanted to be able to flash a new ROM the day I got my phone - new toys and that!) so shouldn't be fake (which seems to be one of the explanations for this error online), I do still have the receipt for it so could take it back but I imagine I'll have to fight a bit as it's a couple of weeks old so would like to try and make sure the error is with the card first.

I've thought of a few possible things to test out, but would appreciate any input from people with any experience with this issue as it might be something easy to fix or something I've not thought of. Things I've thought of:

1) Try using the stock ROM to rule out a ROM issue

2) Test the SD card - anyone know the best way to do this, either on the phone or a Mac (or at a pinch, Windows)?

3) Reformat the SD card - does it matter if I do this from phone/PC/Mac?

If all those fail I'll probably try and return the SD card, as it's less hassle than returning the phone (and I'm not sure I'll get away with that as it has a few scratches where it has been dropped - but the error was happening before it was dropped and has not changed in frequency since then so I don't think it's anything to do with that).

Any advice much appreciated!

Cheers,

Tom

Same problem here! I always notice it wenn the standard-storage switches from sd-card to internal. Happens about every two days.

I'm on Infusion too but have been on Pauls B888 before. I don't remind having this problem with Pauls ROM.

My SD-Card is a A-Data class4 32GB

Think I've fixed this by reformatting the SD card (from the phone)... left my phone playing music all night to test and it's been fine so far. I did change to stock B936 (without the Huwaei bits) but still got the error - but the ROM is a lot faster than Infusion I find, so staying on that for now

mine does it multiple times a day. Last full flash was B926 and now on B936 cwm flashed. I did post a log on here but no response so I guess no one had any idea. Reformat made no difference.

A Class 4 in a new Android Phone? That should be a crime :-) May be slower than the phone is happy with at times. Can you thoroughly test it on a PC. Do some speed read/write sped tests as well just to see what speed it actually achieves and if it is stable on the PC.

You can pick up a really good Class 10 (I have the 16G one and it actually performs as Class 15!) 32G for about £20. For example http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2ebe9bb97b

I have ordered from them before and the cards really do perform at the speeds claimed. Some of the cheaper ones are Class 6 or lower with a fake stamp.

Yes. I get it about once a week, when the phone seems to forget it has an SD card in it. First time it happened I panicked a bit, formatted the SD and reinstalled all my stuff with Titanium. Next time I bothered going into settings and tried remounting the SD. It worked.

It just seems to be something I live with. Sometimes I turn the phone on and have to remount the SD card.

Also using a class 16gb class 4.

@Liesse - sounds like it could be a slightly different issue, mine was remounting immediately without me doing anything.

@Davidoff59 - that's a shame that it didn't work for you. The *actual* process I followed was I formatted the SD card from Windows as an ExFAT partition (as I'd read something about the error message on other forums suggesting ExFAT was best), but the phone couldn't read the card and offered to format it for me. Don't really see how the first format could make a difference though! The error hasn't happened since the reformat so fingers crossed it's sorted (or at least less frequent).

Class 4 should do me for now if it's not causing any problems as it's only a temporary phone - very impressed with it for the price though :)
