Hi,

I use stock Vodafone B936 ICS ROM.

The following features works in stock app, but doesn't in 3rd party:
- Exposure compensation
- White balance

The following features worked with 3rd party apps on GB but doesn't on ICS:
- Exposure compensation
- White balance
- Metering mode
- Contrast
- Saturation
- Sharpness
- ISO

Tested with Camera360, CameraPro, Camera FV-5.

Is it just me, or an ICS bug?

Hi.
I'm using B934 International version on my G300. I can assure you that both Camera 360 and Camera FV-5 (the one i'm using right now) take full control and advantage of ICS's Camera features including the touch to focus which is great.

Touch to focus works for me too. but the features that I posted above don't.
I'll wait until someone with stock B936 can / cannot confirm.

There were some problems reported using the Infusion Rom, only 3500 replys to check , try the search thingy or look approx #2764, but I can remember barcode scanners and google googles not always working every time even if the camera worked fine, sorry cannot be more helpful. (page 134ish)

I check it.
So it seems to be because the camera firmware.
This is very sad that Huawei release the OTA update with these type of bugs. :/

Huawei's response to the problem is "the APP may not be compatible with ICS. Please check Google Play for more information. Let us know if you have further questions"
I tried CameraZoom, LgCamera, ICS Camera, ProCapture, but doesn't work.

I know there are G300 with different camera hardware.
Is there a way to find out witch camera I have?

I updated from B936 to B952 today. Still not work.
Setting the parameters in Huawei camera ok. In any other app, I can change the settings, but has no effect on the picture.

I have an mt9p017 camera.

Can someone check that 3rd party camera apps works with this camera type on ICS? (I'll check it out with other ROMs when I get my unlock code, but I do not expect much)

I'd only been using my camera for OCR in Pleco Chinese dictionary, so I never noticed any problems.
I've just installed Camera FV-5, and voila ISO, White Balance, and Metering Mode don't seem to do anything.
FWIW my G300 has the Huawei B926 rom and shows as U8818.
After fiddling for a while with the camera app, when I exited a panel came up saying
"hello, we don't recognize your device. Please send details"
There was an auto-analyze thingy that generated an email to them, but Go Figure why it couldn't say as the app opened...

Can someone who has working Exposure compensation, White balance, Metering mode, Contrast, ISO post his camera information from Camera FV-5?

Here is mine:
Spoiler

It seems like Huawei couldn't make a proper camera driver for this camera for ICS and in his own app, use some non standard way to set Exposure compensation and White balance.

edit1:
I looked into logcat and found the following things:

On camera start, I have the following errors:
06-15 12:49:09.310: E/CAM_FD(123): sensor_load_chromatix: Sensor name: mt9p017 cnt=8
06-15 12:49:09.310: E/CAM_FD(123): sensor_load_chromatix: libchromatix_mt9p017_preview.so: 31
06-15 12:49:09.310: E/CAM_FD(123): sensor_load_chromatix:1804: dlclose(libchromatix_handle) refcount 0
06-15 12:49:09.320: E/CAM_FD(123): chroma : 422ee648

I compared the behavior of the Huawei camera app and the FV-5 app. It looks like they handle the settings differently:

Setting white balance:

FV-5 Camera:

Setting the exposure compensation:

There are several errors in Set and Get parameters with QualcommCamera.
Maybe a driver issue.
