What is the gingerbread auto-wrapping browser app called?

Just switched from android 2.3 to 4.0

On 2.2 the Internet browser used to auto-wrap text on zoom - so like for this forum i could pinch to zoom and any text would automatically zoom and wrap to screen size (to avoid panning)

Also noticed it would only scroll EITHER up/down OR left/right whcih made it really easy to scroll down a column of text without it wandering all over

On 4.0 it has 2 default browsers (incl Google Chrome) and neither behave like this - I have to either set font size in settings or double-click to zoom the browser but neither will wrap the text so it can be read easily - crap actually

Dunno whether auto-zoom-text-wrapping (Black berry used to call it "columning" text) is an attribute of the OS or browser

So in the first instance I'm just looking for the 2.3 gingerbread browser - so if anyone can give me the name of the browser I'll try and install it thanks

Try Opera Mobile browser, easily my favourite :)

edit I know that doesn't answer your question, but it does behave how you want, and if you put it in single column view you won't ever need to zoom.

Both Chrome and the default ics browser behave like you describe for me. And the stock ics browser is a great improvement. I loves it! :D

But I don't have the stock GB browser either! :D

The stock Gingerbread browser was just named "Browser" wasn't it?

I'm no Android developer, but I would be impressed if it was as simple as installing something like browser.apk to ICS. I thought that the stock browser were usually pretty integral to the OS.

^^ you're thinking of Windows XP :D

I searched for the gb browser ages ago. All I could find was browser+ which is the ics one. :(

Both Chrome and the default ics browser behave like you describe for me. ..

Then I haven't described it properly

all the browsers (tried 42879 different ones) will pinch/zoom text

but only my old Gingerbread one would automatically re-wrap the text to the screen width 'on-the-fly'

hence all the other browsers have 'fixed' font size setting

if I cant sort it I'll be looking to role back the whooole Operating system back to 2.3

PS Couldn't post here with any browser on my mobile cuz there are no quote buttons??????

Posted from My PC :o)

Default is like this

And zooming in is like this.. Obviously Opera

And to quote someone when viewing mobile version just tap the post you want to quote.

I'm currently running stock Gingerbread B892 (don't ask!).

Anyway, if I go into 'About' on the stock browser settings I get:

"Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.6: en-gb; U8815 Build/HuaweiU8815C02B892) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1"

I'm not convinced that's really much help.
