So, I dropped my blade in the shower yesterday morning. The back cover split open and water got in through the holes in the back as well as on the battery, memory and SIM card slots. I removed the battery, SIM card and left it to dry for a few hours. When I turned it on everything was working fine... until I locked the screen. On waking the phone up, the screen remains blank (LCD turns on but screen is black)- but strangely responds to touches as I can say from haptic feedback in Jelly Bean. The display works fine until you lock the screen the first time. Restarting gets it working, until you lock it again. The display also works just fine in recovery.

I have found a Blade with a similar problem on Modaco, although it seems to be a software issue. Since then I have tried everything I can think of- wiped data, cache dalvik, system, boot. I even installed CM7 and tried a gingerbread ROM via the TPT method (using different partition sizes)- all to no avail. I even tried preventing phone from sleeping when locked, but it isn't helping either. Have any of you guys got any suggestions?

I realize that this is probably a hardware problem, and suggestions on this forum are useless. But I jsut wanted to squeeze a little more life out of my blade before buying a new phone this Christmas- especially since the new Android 4.2 will be probably be coming to our Blade soon. Thanks for any help guys!

1. I know, but if this was indeed a software glitch, this is the best place I could bet on fixing it.
2. I said probably useless if its a hardware problem.
3. I can think of lots of reasons- from listening to music to jerking off to porn...

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a budget replacement for my Blade. I've viewed this thread from sej, but it only focuses on Android phones. Windows phones from big brands have come down to very enticing levels, and the change of OS would be nice. I'm thinking of HTC Radar and Nokia Lumia 610 (Pity I couldn't get hold of Lumia 710 at 100 quids on sale) ATM. I realize these phones will not be updated to WP8, but I will still have WP 7.8 to look forward to.

Anyone else got better suggestions for my pocket at this price point?
