Panasonic stopped sales of mobile phones here in 2005, then returned to Europe in April 2012 with a plan to sell 1.5 million smartphones this business year. That target is unlikely to be reached, according to sources.

So where has it all gone wrong?
They released beautifully designed handsets with poor batteries and running Android 2.3 with a promised update to 4.0.4.
Kazuhiro Tsuga, Panasonic's new boss, has pledged to revive the flailing company by removing money-losing or barely profitable parts of the corporation. Panasonic Mobile's European arm is one of the parts that may face the axe.
Panasonic have goodwill credited 70 billion yen (541 million pounds) on its mobile phone business, after the 2010 purchase of shares in Panasonic Electric Works it did not already own. Writing off the European part or all of Panasonic Mobile would add to the 41 billion yen of restructuring costs already planned for this business year.
Some good news for Eluga owners... the 4.0.4 update has been released for the Eluga dl1 on the 30th October 2012.
The Eluga ICS Update app is now live on the Google Play Store.
