I'm thinking of getting a new phone and have been looking at the chinese MTK6577 based devices but am unsure of what to get. Does anyone have any experience with these devices and what are they like? I want the best possible one basically with at least 1GB ram.  Also, would I be able to upgrade it or flash another rom onto it if required in the future?

Waiting (impatiently) for my Jiayu G2 though I think G3 is now out, I'd go for that if you can confirm its really released.
Check the info in Aliexpress.com and see what's available - things are changing quite quickly right now so there's always something new.

Is it really worthwhile getting one though mate? At the moment I'm moving more towards the G3 but think I want something a bit better. So is Aliexpress the best place to buy from then?

Ok then, following some serious thinking I believe I have decided to go for the G3 but am waiting for it to be a bit more widely available. Al, have you got your G2 yet? Where did you get it from?

G2 arrived quickly (paid for DHL) from:  http://www.aliexpress.com/store/404310
Pretty quick delivery, phone supplied with quite a few accessories, well packaged, all working and unmarked.
G3 = 'same but better'.
