Second question

The suggestion below worked and I have now installed the ROM. However, I've come unstuck on the next steps

7 - Install the custom ROM

20. Wait for the ROM to install and you can see Install from sdcard complete. This can take up to 10 minutes.

21. Select choose zip from sdcard

22. Select gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip (you may have to scroll to see it)

23. Select Yes - Install gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip

Having installed the ROM, CWM now shows the following message: "No files found" when I try to follow step 21. Again, any ideas what I should do? Is it ok to power down, re-download the file onto my SD card and go back into CWM to install?

Thanks again!!

First question

Hi, I am part-way through Beggin's guide for loading a new ROM (completely new to the forum so need all the help I can get!!) and I am up to the following section:

7 - Install the custom ROM

15. Hold the Power on and Volume up button together for 15 seconds, until you see ClockworkMod Recovery, similar to the picture below.

16. Select install zip from sd card (use the volume down button to move and press the Home button to select).

However, the 'Home' button is not responding. Does anyone have any ideas about what what I should do?

Thanks!!!

Thanks, will give that a go! Given my inexperience, I didn't want to risk pressing something other than what the guide said and then find that I'd inadvertently bricked my phone, etc.

Second question

Update: wasn't sure what to do but after a while CWM rebooted the phone of its own accord. The phone has been sat on the splash screen for the last 10 minutes. What do I do? Should I wait for the battery to drain or is it ok to pull it? Once the phone's off, I assume I can pull the SD card and copy everything over that seems to have disappeared? Any other suggestions?

If anyone could come back to me about this soon, would be extremely appreciated!!!! Thanks

Third question

Thanks. I did as you suggested and was able to install the file in this way. However, having followed Beggin's guide with a few forced modifications (set out below), I have now been stuck on the splash screen for +10 minutes... seems like I am asking this a lot but what should I do?

Thanks!!

16. Select install zip from sd card (use the volume down button to move and press the Home button to select). DONE

17. Select choose zip from sdcard. DONE

18. Select the ROM you downloaded and pasted to your phone (it will be a zip file - you may have to scroll to the bottom to find it) DONE

19. Select Yes - Install <ROM name.zip> DONE

20. Wait for the ROM to install and you can see Install from sdcard complete. This can take up to 10 minutes. DONE

CWM did not find the next file on the SD card so I:

(a) Removed battery;

(b ) Removed SD card;

(c ) Put file back onto SD card via laptop;

(d) Put SD card back into phone;

(e) Put battery back in;

(f) Switched phone on and entered CWM;

(g) Carried on with instructions as set out below.

21. Select choose zip from sdcard DONE

22. Select gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip (you may have to scroll to see it) DONE

23. Select Yes - Install gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip DONE

24. Once complete, press the Back / Return button. DONE

Ok, so in the end I just repeated those steps and this time it all worked! Downside, I stupidly didn't realise it was an old OS and not ICS and I somehow lost all network services. Fortunately this was all fixed by installing the official ICS update for now ("recovery-flash-b944.zip") via http://huaweig300.com/huawei-g300-install-a-custom-jelly-bean-ics-rom-from-scratch/install-the-custom-rom/#.

However, I would like to install Infusion but am not sure where the link is for the latest ROM.

  1. Please could someone send me a link?
  2. Are there any steps I need to follow before installing it?
  3. Also, would I be able to follow Beggin's guide again to install it?

Thanks all!!
