I haven't heard anything but I expect to see an update from Xolo first. Intel ported JB not long after the source was made available and I did read somewhere that they have updated to 4.1.1 - possibly even 4.1.2 now since the changes are minimal. Because Intel push a lot of it's own code upstream this has the benefit that the Android on our devices is basically AOSP (Android Open Source Platform). In theory if we had fully unlocked devices we could download and build the entire OS from source. Infact, Motorola have published all it's changes for the RAZRi as it's slightly different from the reference platform and these changes are made to be pasted over a download of ICS 4.0.4 from AOSP.

So yes to JellyBean. Who knows about anything else (4.2, 5.0 etc). depends on Intel.

BTW for those interested.. the kernel on our phones is almost stock code. Which is nice if we ever got the ability to unlock the bootloader to allow us to use our own kernels
That is a quote from flibblesan

I was in an Orange store this after noon to check the device out and they had some guy from Intel (or so he claimed) demoing the device, I asked him about the fact the orane magazine and website says it take micro SD, he said it was an error and there was no SD slot.

I also asked about ICS and he claimed to have another device with it a beta of it running on its he also claimed that Jelly Bean would be ported to it eventualy..

I'm not sure you can count this as reliable info but it was interesting...

Also, it's a lot more plasticky than i'd of liked for £200
That was quote from Sebastian404

Those two people are reliable so they won't be joking

Ok thank you for this mate! So it's pretty sure that we will get jelly bean. People mention "before the end of the year" do you have any information about where people got this information?

Yes. I got the information from an Intel in-store demonstrator. Also it's well known that Intel have already built Jelly Bean for the device. http://www.zdnet.com...set-7000004200/

Ok thank you! Do you think we can expect that what Intel says is what lava or orange do about the update?

That would be entirely up to Lava and/or Orange. I can see Lava upgrading but I don't know about Orange. We're all just going to have to be patient again. I'm tempted to reinstall the Xolo ICS and unroot before the end of the year, when it arrives I'll be ready.

I don't see any reason why Orange & Xolo couldn't give us the updates. Xolo have been extremely good at giving us updates so far. Orange are a little slower but both kept the promise about ICS coming in October. The Android builds are coming from a company called Borqs anyway and they are producing regular test roms which end up with the networks for further testing. Once an update passes testing it's released. I haven't seen any Jelly Bean ROMs but I suspect this is because they know people have access to the test server and don't want people using the roms before they have been officially released by the networks.

Got the message overnight that this 27mb update is available. In view of the above I won't touch it. More than happy with phone as it is.

Now, stupid question time..
I'm running the original Xolo ICS download, but don't recall registering with Xolo. Is this 27mb from Orange, in the belief that I used their update from GB to ICS, or is it from Xolo?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks jikobutsu.

Still stupid questions...
I downloaded the ICS update from Xolo to my computer, then updated the phone via USB.
I've had no contact through the phone with Xolo, not text, voice nor email, and as I mentioned I haven't registered it with them.
IIRC downloading the update didn't require my phone number.
So, how do Xolo's systems know to sent this update to my phone and/or number?
All that Xolo's systems should be able to tell is that a computer with my IP address downloaded their update. They should have no way of knowing that it's on my phone?

The small update from Xolo is a security update to fix a few issues. Sadly it also fixed the bug that allowed us to gain root.

Thanks fot the reply flibblesan, I knew that from all the posts above.
But going back to my post of 4/12, 2.16pm, how has notice of it got to my phone (and others)? I've had NO contact with Xolo that involved my phone number. Only my computer has.
There's been no OTA or internet link between Xolo and my phone/number. Just curious, that's all!

As I said above, you have the xolo updater app in system which checks for updates via internet, it has nothing to do with your phone number or location or contact with xolo.
