I have lots of texts and contacts along with lots of app data that I backed up with Huawei Backup (all backup) onto SD card ready to restore once I'd installed CM9. Just discovered the Huawei Backup apk won't install. Thank goodness for nandroid backups, reverted back to ICS and my data. Before I did that I backed up CM9 ready to switch back later.

What is the best way to get my app data into CM9 from ICS? Thanks

You can't just install allbackup. What you need to do is:

-get a root explorer (antek explorer works good)

-get the allbackup.apk and put it on your external SD card.

-using the root explorer, move the allbackup.Apk to

System/app

-close everything and reboot there phone.

-one it is booted, allbackup should be there

I did what you advised, copied over the AllBackup.apk to /system/app, rebooted phone but app still doesn't show up. Any ideas?

BTW, I'm on R3 CM9, would this make a difference?

Go back to system/app and check if allbackup is still there. Sometimes antek can fail.

Yes just tried that, even waiting the two mins and checking to see if all backup.apk was still in /system/app. Tried upgrading to CM9 R5, and repeated the above steps but still no joy :-( Are there any other backup/restore app I can try?

There is a .zip version of huaweibackup floating around somewhere which you can flash in CWM - works fine for me!

You will have to google it, but it was one of the links on the 1st page (google 'huawei allbackup cwm .zip)

Try gobackup or titainium backup. You can just download them off the play store. I still don't understand why allbackup wont install. It works flawlessly for me and others, so I have no idea. Allbackup seems to be the best application as it allows you to backup the settings, contacts, texts, calenders, ect.

Download the zipped version of Huwaei BackUp from here and flash using .Zip file installer in ClockworkMod - This worked fine on my device & is fully functioning

just use GO Backup, it's better then allbackup anyway. If you want even better backup app, use "My backup". Huawei allbackup is overrated, and overall a hustle if you change roms often.

Hmm that means laying down readies if I want to go with one of those backup apps. Perhaps should look at extracting All Backup from a Huawei JB ROM, that might work?

Hi, I've had the same problem as you guys, and am trying to recover my huaweibackup data, and have indeed been able to find the apk and cwm files floating around the net, however, the .apk method didn't work (antTek said it didn't have enough permissions), and I couldn't understand your infos about how to install via the "cwm" method. I rooted and upgraded my phone only by following very carefully laid out instructions and don't have the jargon to understand:

"There is a .zip version of huaweibackup floating around somewhere which you can flash in CWM"

or

"flash using .Zip file installer in ClockworkMod". I googled '.Zip file installer ClockworkMod' but there is no matching application.

I'd be really grateful for any advice so I can recover this data without having to first revert back to Gingerbread ;-)

Many thanks, Jonathan
