540 x 960 seems fine on 4.5inch, probably would agree if any bigger,

but remember the human eye can generally not differentiate detail beyond 300 PPI...

so even 720p on 4.7inch devices is slightly over the top at 320PPI

the G300 & Y300 have a 4inch screen and look fine with 800 x 480

xiacocai x9 has 4.5inch with 540 x 960 and looks fine

my nexus 4 has 4.7inch with 768p resolution and i honestly fail to notice any difference over the other three in terms of "visible pixels" or pixalation.

Have you posted any sort of review or details of your experience with the x9? I'm close to buying as a spare!

Sorry about all the posts iPhone tapatalk spazzed out!

not yet will do soon though,

i honestly think its one of the few china phones that actually looks good and not like a cheaply put together phone (in the £100 price range)

for me it looks and feels like a premium phone.

Maringer:

The basic Xiaocai X9 only has a qHD screen, I believe? I'm of the opinion that if you're going to

have a phone with a screen of 4.5(+) inches, it should have 720p resolution at the very least.

http://isthisretina.com/

qHD on 4.5 gives a 245ppi "retina" viewing experience at 36cm/14" viewing distance (wfhich is an average reading distance)

If you read from 20cm, then245ppi is not enough, but then you have a problem which is more serious than phone choice.

Vegadrc:

At the risk of getting kicked again I would just like to say that the 9500 I have is very good even if it is a "clone".

Why shouldn`t it be good? Problem is that it is too expencive for its features and background.

Roy8846:

Any reason why i9 is better than B6000??

Camera on b6000 is better as is the CPU + GPU??

Phone is not just SoC. Phone camera is one of the thing that clone makers often lie about.

Goophone is one of the best clone makers. Check support and reviews, too.

Differences:

Bluebo B6000 aka

Star B6000 aka

Orient N3 Plus

vs Goophone i9

Faster SoC: MTK6589T

Longer by 7mm

Fatter by 1.5mm

Lighter by 74g ( i guess it is almost two cca 2000mAh battery weights difference!!!)

Camera: ? Even if true mpix specs, more mpixes doesn`t

have to be better (12 vs 8)

Smaller battery: Built in 2800mAh lithium battery vs 3500mAh

Funny specs (from manufacturer and stores):

Camera: CMOS color

Type Brand: New

Feature: Built in the one-handed operation function

Favorite statement comes

from manufacturers website:

http://www.ibluebo.com/

Click on product page

opens online seller´s page. ???

Quote:

Blue Letter - monster uses a 5.7 -inch HD ( 1280 * 720 ) high-definition big screen, pixel density reached 320PPI , while the Iphone 5 The PPI is 326 , compared to Iphone 5 price, blue letters - Behemoth undoubtedly has a greater advantage.

What the heck!

5.7" @ 1280x720 is only 258 ppi!

Oh, wait, there is even more:

....16:9 golden ratio retina screen....

Check impressions at XDA:

Don't forget that a higher resolution screen can show more information than a lower resolution one, albeit at a smaller size, obviously.

A set amount of text will appear clearer on a 720p screen than a qHD one and a smaller text size will be more easily readable on the higher-resolution screen.

For what it's worth, I really don't think that a 1080p resolution is particularly worthwhile even on a 5" device because any additional text that you fit on the screen over a 720p device is going to be too small to read! Not to mention the fact that you need a good amount more processing power to drive a full HD screen.

My Atrix was qHD on a 4" screen. I think stepping up to a 720p 4.5" screen is a good upgrade and I find the phone is actually more pocketable than the Atrix due to the compact design. If the software issues can be resolved quickly, I would wholeheartedly recommend the F1, despite the fact that the Qualcomm quad-A5 chip is a little underpowered in comparison to the Mediatek and more powerful Snapdragon chips. A lot of phone for the price, that's for sure. Not even tried out the NFC capabilities as yet.

Something that isn`t that much of importance, but if you take a look at my post

http://www.modaco.co...00#entry2149219

there were some facts about MTK6589, MTK6589M, MTK6589T

and adreno 203 GPU

Adreno 203 is normaly clocked at 245MHz

Yesterday, I noticed that two cheap quad core phones with snapdragon SoC:

Faea F1, and

Starmobile Icon

have adreno 203 GPU, but advertise themselves as clocked at 350MHz!

That is a 43% increase!

Couldn`t find any detailed info....

@dakok:

I need your expert opinion. Right now I am having a zopo zp950+ phone. I am interested to buy zp 990 for its big screen and being hd screen plus gorilla glass.

Will you recommend this to me or any other better choice available having the same specs. I shall be much thankful.

I am not an expert, just reading more than I should :)

There is no better buy for phone in 6" screen league.

Nice camera (f/2.2), OTG, Miracast?

Chinese name is Zopo big black C7.

You have Zopo in Italy, check their price and delivery price vs your local tax.

I bought zopo zp950 from zopomobileshop.com directly. I'm not an Italian. I am happy with that but think that zp 990 is much better as far as specs are concerned. I taught may be you have some other choices as well.

A second question : who are the makers of orient phones sold by orientdeal.com..

There are few other phones, but with lower specs, worse name/quality or unavailable outside of China.

Their Orient N3 is made by Bluebo. Read my comments few posts back.

Hi guys long time no see!

I bought a Xiaomi MI2 a while back all my friends love this phone and also want a phone with MIUI so they all waited for the xiaomi red rice but since it came out with TD SCDMA 3G wont work in europe.

I know MIUI allready got ported to mediatek devices but are they stable enough? They dont want to spend more then €200 ($270) I know a lot of people have bought the Vowney v5 are you guys happy with this phone? Or should they buy a Jiayu G4?

on the Huawei Y300 its clocked @ 300MHz

I've just installed Trickster MOD on my FAEA F1 and can confirm that the GPU appears to be clocked at 400MHz in my phone. This relatively high clock might go some way to explaining why the phone can get very warm when in use. That said, the current software I'm using doesn't seem to encounter as many heating issues as the initial ROM which came with the phone.

I'm running the most recent official software release from 6th August.

I tried Antutu yesterday (when I installed the newer ROM update) and scored a little over 10,000 which is about the same as other scores I've seen elsewhere.

Hi Wacky.

Even before xiaomi released its

mtk model, red rice, they announced

future support for mtk dual sim

phones. Zte v987 was chosen as

first one to get miui rom.

That is why I bought it. :)

Now it has 2 builds on miui.com,

from 2 independent, known devs.

Check my sig, you will find

other mtk phones under zte rom collection

- miui roms. (Jiayu, too)

Miui is stabile on my phone. It has few

minor problems, but this is early

development, just the third build.

It has OTA, new build is out every

friday.

Or, neglect all of this and wait

for red rice wcdma, which could

probably be out soon

:)

well its between these two that i will get for him

THL W200

http://dealsprime.co...-4-2-phone.html

or

Newman K2 if legit and in black

http://dealsprime.co...080-13-0mp.html

Well if you do decide to buy, don't buy from dealsprime (aka Chinagrabber, GadgetGreats, and a few others). They also run the apad.tv forum but if you post anything bad about their products or them, you get banned and your posts removed. Steer clear.

I think there is a list of "trusted" suppliers earlier in the thread.

I have used aliexpress in the past without problem. They are like an umbrella organisation who provide quotes from a number of suppliers. They hold your money until you tell them that you have received the product and are happy with it. Then, they release the money to your supplier.
