since the blade has such a shitty camera and speaker, I was wondering if I could replace the camera with (for eg.) a galaxy ace camera, I am aware that there might be hardware incompatibilities, but how about a custom camera lens?

There'd be incompatibilities liboemcamera or sure, and you'd also need a custom kernel with the correct camera driver. I'd really like to see someone try to swap hardware between phones though, just to see what would happen.
