I used to have the Huawei Ideos phone and it had a small amount of internal memory for installing application and a microSD card slot. Life was simple. Now that I have this G300, I have a lot more memory; however part of it is by default partitioned to include a make-believe microSD card and can't have applications installed on it as simply as the internal memory partition. Why? MicroSD cards are cheap; mine is 32 gb, and I have no use for this partition. Who does? What is it's purpose?

Incidentally, I'd like to do away with the thing entirely and have one large internal memory for app installation.

I'm not really clear on the rationale for the way that Android/specific phones partition an organize their internal flash and it's not for want of searching! If anybody has any good authoritative links on this I'd be interested.

The G300 seems to have a 2GB internal flash partition that is never (?) used but you can try using Link2Int to make use of it:

I'm not sure if it's only compatible with CM9/10 and not also stock or stock based ROMs or at least ROMs with init.d support?

Similarly the original Link2SD allows apps to be installed/moved to an external SD card partition:

http://www.link2sd.info

I'm not sure if Link2Int also provides the original Link2SD capabilities as well?

Hope this helps and I'm not just regurgitating stuff that you already know...

Ah - thanks. I found a few different threads about the G300 internal flash organization (750MB /data + 2GB internal sdcard or if external sdcard installed it becomes /HWUserData (at least on stock ROMs?)), Link2SD/Link2Int etc. but not that one. :)

Is it possible to use a partion app to delete the 2 gb partition and extend the 700 mb partition into that space?
