Three have today announced pre-order details for the forthcoming Xperia Z 5" 1080P behemoth and are offering a free pair of £300 headphones (~£200 street price) to the first 1,000 people to pre-order.

Available to order now, the Xperia Z packs a 1.5GHz quad core processor as well as the aforementioned screen and adds dust and water resistance to help look after your investment.

We’re extremely pleased to offer the Xperia Z for pre-order from the 1st February and coupled with our highly competitive price plans and no surprise out of bundle data charges, this premium smartphone brings you the ultimate internet experience all on our Ultrafast network.

The Z will ship from the 28th February for £34 a month with an upfront cost of £69 on the Ultimate Internet 500 plan. It will also be available for £36 a month with an upfront cost of £69 on The One Plan. Both plans come with true all-you-can-eat data.

The phone is available on Pay As You Go for £449.99 plus a minimum £10 top up.

The first 1,000 customers to pre-order a Sony Xperia Z in a Three retail store (online orders don't count) on a 24 month contract will receive a pair of Sony MDR-1R Prestige headphones with a RRP of £299.00 (currently retailing at ~£200 at Amazon).

If you're in the market for the cans anyway it's a great deal on the phone and either way, you get a lot of phone for your money. I think the Z might well be a good seller. Let us know if you're ordering one!

Head on over to Three to learn more.

If they had bundled in the Bluetooth/NFC version of those headphones I'd have ordered it already but while they're meant to be great cans, the decision to bundle the 'basic' version after the fuss Sony made about the xperias audio pairing seems perplexing.

I'm planning on getting the Bluetooth ones at some point anyway but how many people would end up buying the xperia z and those headphones after seeing the one touch wireless pairing first hand from someone who had pre ordered.

That's a fantastic and fairly unique selling point that could have had a similar impact to Samsung bundling the wacom stylus, but as it is, they're just giving away another pair of headphones without demoing any new technology. Missed opportunity.
