right, I'm running xolo ics, and last week tried to switch to orange ics as my power button is almost redundant and I want to return it, it didn't work so I rebooted from sd card, now whenever I  go onto play store and try to update an app or download a new app it closes?  suggestions please,

First sign out of your google account then Clear the data and cache through settings>apps.
If that doesn't work, find an apk for the play store and install it.
Does it work over wifi?

no it still forces close as soon as I click accept and download,either update or new download, yet I can browse it fine, on 3g and wifi same,   get apk for play store from aptoid??

If you have rooted your phone, uninstall the play store through the app Link2SD, Titanium backup or any other capable app.
Then install the apk
You can get it from aptoide but you would probably want the newest version and it may not be on aptoide. try this instead
