If I wipe it would it free up some space, and make the phone faster as clearing the cache in apps seems to make it faster? What is this for? Guest Cyda Posted February 27, 2013 Report Share Posted February 27, 2013 Dalvik is the virtual machine in which all apps run on Android. The Dalvik cache is simply the data cache for it. By wiping the cache you are removing all previously cached data, which is important to do when updating files to prevent crashes. After being wiped Dalvik will just re-cache the data it needs on next boot.
