I feel your pain regarding the 2 year contract, in a way I am too with the S4 but I have the O2 refresh which is a 2 year contract but with 2 elements.
1. Mobile contract
2.Interest free phone repayment.

In my case £15 a month for the phone (total cost £429) but this can be paid up at any time so once I sell my Galaxy Nexus (yes I still have all my old devices) and make additional payments I can theoretically clear the outstanding payments within 4 months, once the phone is paid off, I will no longer be under contract just continue to pay for £22 /mth (before any discounts) for the air time. This allows me to update to a new phone as and when they become available, just going through the same process again.

Had this not been available I would have been happy to carry on with my N4 alone as opposed to the 2 together,

That's awesome! I like your thinking. Wish I'd worked out a system like that. I shall keep it in mind   x

PS Had enough of the S4 too many glitches for me so it's being sold ASAP, can I ask you as a woman,
how best to win back the love of my N4, I have been unfaithful to her, I have been silly, I feel such a fool and she feels so cheated , what would you suggest, cases, new dock, screen protectors, I'm so worried I may have lost her forever..........

lol..  I am indeed! Well..you see now that the grass is not always greener and you seem genuinely remorseful. I think a shiny new accessory, and some tlc, is in order. I'm sure she will forgive your moment of weakness   I  wouldn't mention O2 Refresh to her tho   Good luck..happy grovelling   x
